    I know relating to me is difficult, even for those people who surround me every day, and I can’t force them to do so, but despite my “gift,” we share both sorrow and laughter. Every day, I hold my head up and take this world head-on instead of turning and dodging around corners as I did a lifetime ago, before I accepted that Tourette’s syndrome can be both a curse and a blessing.

  • Advanced graphic design students at North Hardin High School created mixed media artwork entitled ‘Reflections,’ in which they were to illustrate their personality through the use of the elements and principles. Students enhanced and edited their artwork and included their portrait using Adobe Photoshop CS5.

    I can feel the scream trying to escape my throat, but it’s too dry. The adrenaline is pumping and I’m too terrified to make a sound. My breathing consists of short, fast breaths, and my heart feels as if it will burst right out of my chest at any second.

  • Throughout the Rev. Dennis Cousens’ outer office, photos and statues of Jesus, Mary and other important figures of the Catholic faith line the walls, with one exception.

    A fan of both classical and country music, he has a personalized and autographed picture of country singer Garth Brooks. It was given to him by a friend who knows Brooks and it has become a conversation piece to those who visit his office.

    Cousens, like his taste in music, is a blend of the classical and contemporary.

    Well, another Christmas has come and gone. We spend months preparing for that one day and then it is over so quickly. I hope that you had a wonderful Christmas with your family and friends. My family and I had a wonderful time, except that I spent Christmas day on the couch not feeling well. But I still got to be with my family, so it still was a wonderful day.

    They were married Dec. 28, 1962, in Celina, Tenn.

    They have two sons, Chris Ashlock and Jeff Ashlock, and three grandchildren, all of Sonora.

    The wedding is at 2 p.m. Jan. 1, 2013, at Freedom’s Way Church in Cecilia with a reception to follow at the church.

  • Kevin and Kim Smith of Sonora announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Molly Adeline Smith of Sonora, to Jacob Daniel Alcorn of Cecilia, son of Phillip and Roxanne Alcorn of Cecilia.

    The bride-to-be is a 2008 graduate of Central Hardin High School and a 2012 graduate of Western Kentucky University with a Bachelor of Science in education.

    The prospective groom is a 2009 graduate of Central Hardin High School and is employed at Hardin Memorial Hospital.
