  • Wesley Hilltop Seniors Citizen Club members gathered for the May potluck gathering. Members played Bingo and listened to a representative from Kindred Healthcare. They also had different screening tests from Hardin Memorial Hospital nurses.

  • A recent Radcliff Rotary Club guest speaker was Col. Thomas Kallman, commander, Army Reserve Readiness Training Center (ARRTC) at Fort Knox.

Kallman briefed club members on the function and mission of ARRTC, which now occupies part of the footprint vacated by the Armor School during the BRAC move. One of several training centers around the country, the Fort Knox center trains hundreds of reservists year-round, most of whom spend a week or two in a Radcliff motel adding to the local economy.

  • Cookies might have a new definition in the computer realm, but members of the Radcliff Woman’s Club recently showered the local military community with traditional cookies during its participation in the eighth annual Hooray for Heroes event May 18 at Stithton Baptist Church in Radcliff. The event is a salute to local military and emergency service personnel and their families.

  • This month I have several different recipes both submitted and found. The Energy Bars recipe was given to me to include in Recipe Roundup.

  • This week’s adventure is on the sweet side and is one of my favorite cakes to make.

The main component of this cake is Oreo cookies. For many fans of the Oreo, I could probably stop right there and they already are hooked.

As a fan of this delicious chocolate sandwich cookie, I like adding it to pretty much anything sweet from cookies to brownies and especially ice cream.

This recipe is very easy and the result is Oreo delight.

  • So this column feels a little bit like déjà vu with the added twist that my other half, Rebecca Ricks, and I discovered we have a Bacon Number.

What’s a Bacon Number, you ask? It sure sounds tasty.

    Read on.

KENTUCKY WEATHER. Cloudy days with lots of rain. Many people are planting their gardens. Hope the rain didn’t wash their plants away.
