  • Woman’s Club of Elizabethtown members, from left, Bobbi Dille, Regina Lancaster, Melanie Hibbard and Lenelle Hays, participated in the American Cancer Society Relay for Life on May 13 at Central Hardin High School.

  • Thank you to the Iron Soldiers Motorcycle Club for the fundraising ride that they held on May 21. The prceeds from this ride were donated to North Hardin Hope to help support the non-profit organization.

  • BALLARD. Air Force Airman Kristofer K. Ballard graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio. A 2010 graduate of John Hardin High School in Elizabethtown, he is the son of Russell and Sheri Ballard of Elizabethtown.

  • CASENAS.  Air Force Airman 1st Class Harold B. Casenas graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio. He earned distinction as an honor graduate. A 2006 graduate of John Hardin High School in Elizabethtown, he received a bachelor’s degree in 2010 from the University of Kentucky in Lexington. He is the son of Claire Kleist of Elizabethtown.

  • LEWIS. Kevin R. Lewis, son of Kevin and Debera Lewis graduated from the United States Air Force Academy on May 25 in Colorado Springs, Colo.

  • Amanda Strange of Elizabethtown recently graduated summa cum laude from Midway College, receiving her bachelor’s in teacher education, K-5. She also was named a Who’s Who in American Universities and Colleges for 2010-11.

    She is the daughter of Doris and Michael Dwyer of Hodgenville and wife of Brian Strange of Elizabethtown. She is a 1988 graduate of LaRue County High School. She received her associate’s with high distinction and has had an 11-year teaching career at Elizabethtown Christian Academy, where she teaches fourth grade.

  • Members of The Captain Jacob VanMeter Chapter of the DAR attended the North Hardin High School ROTC ceremony May 10, in the school gymnasium. Past regent Martha Lawson photographed the presentation of an ROTC medal by past regent Rita Byars to Cadet Suzzanne Soppelland.

  • Taking time to reach out to people with many needs on Memorial Day, these individuals volunteered at the Warm Blessings  soup kitchen. The program offers a hot meal each weeknight and served 45 patrons on Memorial Day. Front row, Austin Vaughn, Cody Thomas, Richard Rudolph, and back row, Sophia Skees, Traci Smith, Taryn Chambers, Corinna Rudolph, Grace Mathers, Christine Robinson, Linda Mathers.

  • The 71st annual Hardin County Homemakers meeting was held May 24 at the fellowship hall in Cecilia Baptist Church. With a large crowd in attendance, a very nice day was enjoyed by all. Rineyville Club won the attendance award. The Cecilia Homemakers Club were proud of many of their members as well, who were appointed to county offices and won awards.

    Seven scholarship awards were presented this year to: Kelly Keen, Devin McCamish, Dustin Shepherd, Spencer Singer, Alexandra Skillman, Jeremy Taylor and Aaron Yates.

  • Judy Banks was recently named volunteer of the year by Elizabethtown Hardin LaRue Retired Teachers Association.
