    Hello friends, well we made it to spring break and being off school for the past week. My sister, Sam, her daughters, Stephanie and Vickie, and their children, Jacob, Hayley, Zachery and Alex, Brittany, and my grandchildren, Breanna and Jenna, and myself went to Pigeon Forge for a few days. It rained the entire drive down. Then the weather was so beautiful and we all had a good time. But it’s always good to go but better to come home.

  • xMicah and Katrina Johnson of Elizabethtown announce the birth of a son, Asher Philip David Johnson, on Jan. 20, 2014, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown. He weighed 7 pounds, 14 ounces and was 18.5 inches long.

    He has two sisters, Jennings Ashley and Kennedy Ann Johnson.

    Maternal grandparents are Richard and Connie Leary of Elizabethtown; paternal grandparents are Bill and Linda Johnson of Elizabethtown.

    Great-grandparents are Naomi Leary, Bill and Bobbi Johnson and Phil and Joyce Dye.

  • Kevin and Donna Clark of Sonora announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Chasity Clark of Cecilia, to Levi Meredith of Cecilia, son of Lynn and Michelle Sweet of Cecilia.

    The bride-to-be is a 2005 graduate of Central Hardin High School and a 2011 graduate of Galen College of Nursing. She is a financial representative for Modern Woodmen of America.

    The prospective groom is a 2006 graduate of Central Hardin High School. He is an administrative technician for Hardin County Water District No. 2.

  • Pat Kirtley and friends will appear Saturday at the Hardin County Schools Performing Arts Center at John Hardin High School as a part of Trinity Music Productions’ Acoustic Guitar Masters Concert Series.

    Kirtley’s music is a blend of Merle Travis and Chet Atkins with a contemporary electric style. A news release states that Kirtley “penned a virtual library of lyrical compositions for guitar.”

    He was named the U.S. National Fingerstyle Champion in 2006 and is an inductee of the Thumbpicking Hall of Fame.

  • Local photographer David Toczko is releasing his latest book, “South Union Shaker Village” from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Friday at the South Union Shaker Village in Logan County.

    The book benefits preservation efforts of the Shaker Museum at South Union. It contains more than 250 color photos showcasing the structures, lifestyle, architecture and culture of the village

    Located west of Bowling Green near Auburn off U.S. 68, the village was an active community from 1807 to 1922.
