  • Jerry and Lanie Jeffries Ramsey of Sonora will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary from 2 to 4 p.m., Jan. 12, 2014, with a reception held in their honor at First Baptist Church of Sonora.

    They were married Dec. 27, 1963, at Sonora Baptist Church by Brother Dillard West.

    Mr. Ramsey retired from Gates Rubber Company, works with Sonora Baptist Church and volunteers in the community.

    Mrs. Ramsey retired as a seamstress from E-town Sportswear Company, sews and makes quilts.

  • Chesteen Alvey and Alma Langdon, both of White Mills, announce their engagement and forthcoming marriage.

    They are the parents of Dale, Crystal, Cortney and Allyson.

    The bride-to-be is the employed by The Nielsen Company.

    The prospective groom is a truck driver for Pegasus Transportation.

    The wedding is at 3 p.m. EST Jan. 1, 2014, at Stephensburg Missionary Baptist Church with a reception to follow.

    All family and friends are invited to attend. No formal invitations will be sent.

  • Milton Thomas and Willa Mae Havens will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception in their honor from 2 to 4 p.m. Dec. 28, 2013, at Valley View Baptist Church Christian Life Center, 501 Valley View Drive, Vine Grove.

    They were married Dec. 28, 1963 at Vine Grove Baptist Church by the Rev. Harlan McGinnes.

    All friends and relatives are invited to attend.

    The couple request no gifts.

  • Shelby and Elizabeth Bailey of Sonora will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with their family and a trip to the Smoky Mountains.

    They were married Dec. 24, 1963, at White Mills Christian Church By Brother Joe Rowlett.

    Mr. Bailey is the son of the late Ordie and Dorothy Bailey.

    Mrs. Bailey is the daughter of the late Bernard and Christine Lasley.

    They have two children, Carolyn Ruth of Sulphur and Joey Bailey of Radcliff; and two grandchildren.

  • Bill and Teresa Strader of Elizabethtown announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Elizabeth Noelle Strader, to Jonathan Steele Brockman of Bullitt County, son of Phillis Brockman of Bardstown and the late James Brockman.

    The wedding is at 2:30 p.m. Dec. 28, 2013, at Locust Grove Baptist Church, 1817 Red Mill Road, Elizabethtown. A reception follows in the fellowship hall.

    Invitations have been sent but all friends and relatives are invited to attend.

  •  The Rev. Tyrone Elliott and Ruth Ann Alexander Handley will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a surprise trip planned by their children.

    They were married Dec. 25, 1963 at Mount Moriah Missionary Baptist Church in Louisville by the Rev. Willis.

    The Rev. Handley retired from the U.S. Army in 1987 and from being a Government contractor in March 2011.

    Mrs. Handley is employed at Little People’s Child Development Center in Radcliff. She serves as president of their church Usher Board.

  • Thomas B. and Mary Kathryn Newton Brangers of Elizabethtown will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary with an open house from 2 to 5 p.m. Dec. 29, 2013, at the home of Sam and Judy Brangers, 871 Fuller Road, Elizabethtown.

    They were married Dec. 29, 1953.

    Mr. Brangers is in construction and is a farmer.

    Mrs. Brangers is a homemaker.

    They have six children; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren with twins on the way.

    All friends and relatives are invited to attend.

  • Chelsea Rae VanderMolen of Rineyville and Alexander Lane of Elizabethtown announce their engagement and forthcoming marriage.

    The bride-to-be is the daughter of Jon and Lisa VanderMolen of Rineyville. She is in her last year of college at Western Kentucky University and is studying English for secondary education.

    The prospective groom is the son of David Lane of Elizabethtown and Lori Kinkead of Radcliff. He received a bachelor’s degree in English from Western Kentucky University, graduating magna cum laude.

  • HAGGERTY. Air Force Reserve Airman 1st Class Shawn M. Haggerty graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland in San Antonio.

    Haggerty is the son of Kim Haggerty of Rineyville.

    He is a 2006 graduate of John Hardin High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in 2011 from Western Kentucky University.

  • KULLMAN. Air Force Airman Zachary W. Kullman graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland in San Antonio.

    Kullman is the son of Lisa and Wade Kullman of Vine Grove.

    He is a 2013 graduate of Meade County High School.
