  •  Kitty DuPlessis’ piano students recently held a Spring Recital at First Christian Church.   • Music students of Mila Nikolic performed in their 2011 Spring Recital on May 19 at the Plum Alley Theatre in Elizabethtown. Piano and vocal musical pieces were classical or popular or Broadway themed. Bo Cecil added dramatic dimension with lighting effects and Janet Gebler was the announcer.  

  • Dennis Johnson of Hardin Memorial Hospital was the guest speaker at the Elizabethtown Rotary Club on May 31. He gave an update on how the hospital is performing. 

  •  Fort Knox Chapter of AUSA President Gene Gudenkauf presents an AUSA National Citation to Ray Cottrell and Ray Cottrell Jr. recognizing Ray’s Ford’s 30-year continuous active AUSA membership. Cottrell has been one of the longest and strongest supporters of AUSA. 

  • Recently Radcliff Rotarians assisted on the serving line at the Hooray for Heroes event honoring the military and their families.

    Guest speaker at a recent weekly meeting was Brad Richardson, Executive director, Hardin County Chamber of Commerce.He spoke on the BRAC related road construction projects currently or soon to be underway throughout the county; in particular the 313 Extension and the new Radcliff-Elizabethtown connector.He also said to look for changes on 31W to help ease the ever increasing traffic flow. 

  •  Elizabeth McMichael, daughter of Crystal Poe and Robert McMichael of Hodgenville, has been selected as a finalist in the Pre-Teen Kentucky Scholarship and Recognition Program on July 1-3 at the Hyatt Regency in Lexington.

  •  At the April 26 meeting of the Elizabethtown Lions Club, Lion Ken Mitzoguchi was honored on the occasion of his April 80th birthday. Lion Mitzoghchi is a 20-year active member of the club. He is recognized and highly appreciated for his faithful service to Lionism. Lion Ken has been married to his wife, Misako, for 45 years and they have one son. 

  • Everyone is afraid of something. But sometimes what we fear is a bit silly. Anyone agree?

    For example, one of my biggest fears is waking up in the middle of a surgery. In reality, what is the likelihood that will actually happen, especially when I’ve only had one surgery during my entire life?

    Marionettes also freak me out. They’re just creepy.

    Some people are afraid of sharks, which is especially silly if they don’t live by an ocean. Sharks in the ocean, OK, real fear. Sharks inland, not so much.
