  • Bill and Brenda Bickett Bellin of Leesburg, Florida, formerly of Elizabethtown, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary May 8, 2014, with siblings and spouses in Perdido Key, Florida.
    They were married May 16, 1964, at St. James Church.
    They have two sons, Jeff and Jeremy; and seven grandchildren.

    EVENTS. Stephensburg Home Coming Days will be the fourth weekend in June.

  • Patricia and Lee Ferriss of Upton will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary at 3 p.m. June 14, 2014, at Lucas Grove Baptist Church.
    They were married June 12, 1964, at Sonora Baptist Church.
    Mrs. Ferriss is the daughter of the late Ernest Hornback, Jessie Devore and Thomas “Tommy” Devore. She retired from Hardin Memorial Hospital and is a member of Lucas Grove Baptist Church.

  • Jim and Abby Lowe of Vine Grove and Melvin and Debbie Brown of Louisville announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their children, Kelly and Chris.
    The bride-to-be, a 2007 graduate of the University of Louisville, is a subrogation medical examiner with Trover Solutions in Louisville.
    The prospective groom, a 2008 graduate of U of L, is an integration consultant with Trover Solutions.
    The wedding is May 31, 2014, at Caldwell Chapel in Louisville with a reception to follow at The Olmstead.

    KENTUCKY WEATHER. Warmer days have arrived. Temperatures have reached in the 80s. It kind of nice, but I wonder when the really hot weather will arrive. Our air conditioner went out during the cooler days but is now fixed just in time for the warm days.
    POLITICS. Congratulations to all the winners in the Primary election.

  • The Radclif Woman’s Club had a dynamic duo serve as guest speakers for the April 14 meeting.
    Guest speaker Bryce Shumate and Adrian Bambini addressed the group about the city of Radciff.
    Shumate, a Radcliff Police Officer, told club members about the Radcliff Police Department’s need for a large goose neck trailer. In an attempt to secure funding for the transport, he’s appealing to various civic organizations for assistance.

  • Chapter 1050 of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees met in early May for the quarterly potluck lunch before the business meeting.
    After lunch, members received information on the latest local and national legislative initiatives. More information is available at the NARFE websites, kynarfe.org and narfe.org.
    The NARFE national convention is Aug. 24 through 28 in Orlando, Florida, with Willie and Berlie Little attending as Chapter 1050’s representatives.

  • In a ceremony March 8, the POW/MIA Flag Guard presented Joha Slinger, Dion Morgan, Jason Nalley, David Nelly Jr, Jerry Whitaker and Roger Milliner of Pleasure Ridge Park Fire Districts eight fire stations plaques in recognition of their outstanding citizenship for honoring veterans by proudly displaying the POW/MIA Flag.

  • American Legion Department Auxiliary President Pat Reynolds and Department President Robert Bryant welcome National American Legion Commander Daniel Dellinger and his wife, Margaret, to American Legion Hardin Post 113 Elizabethtown for a dinner and a chance for members to speak with him about issues concerning veterans and their families.
