  • Kendall and Haleigh Johnson of Charleston Air Force Base in Charleston, S.C., announce the birth of a son, Redick Quinn, on Oct. 9, 2013. He weighed 7 pounds, 9 ounces and was 19.5 inches long.

    Grandparents are Larry and Yevette Kopp of Caneyville and Ken and Gayle Johnson of Big Clifty.

    Great-grandparents are an Estil and Brenda Seaton, Bobby Johnson and the late Shelby and Melinda Hay, Nell Johnson and Larry and Carol Kopp.

  • Naomi-Nicole M. Lupacchino and Michael G. Lupacchino announce the birth of a son, Sebastian Luca Lupacchino on Nov. 28, 2013, at Central Carolina Hospital in North Carolina. He weighed 7 pounds, 13 ounces and was 20 inches long.

    Older brother is Santino Noel Lupacchino.

    Maternal grandparents  are Audrey R. Jacques and Noel E. Helm and paternal grandparents are Sonia G. Barber and Michael A. Lupacchino.

    Great-grandparents are Marian A. Keenan, David G. Hofer, Ginette Y. Helm and James R. Helm.

  • Ken and Norma Gardner of Elizabethtown celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary Dec. 4, 2013.

    They were married Dec. 4, 1948, at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Chicago by Pastor Herbert Kohn.

    Mr. Gardner retired from UARCO, now Standard Register, in 1989.

    Mrs. Gardner retired from Citizens Bank in 1981 and volunteered at Hardin Memorial Hospital.

    They are members of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church.

  • Elizabethtown Rotary Club President Val Claycomb, left, and Rotarian Lisa Williams, right, welcomed special guest speaker Judge-Executive Harry Berry. Judge Berry presented a ‘Local Option Sales Tax’ effort led by the eight largest counties in Kentucky. If the state law was changed, local communities could implement temporary sales tax structures to fund projects that they would otherwise not be able to complete. Berry also gave an update on the new government building to be located on the corner of Patriot Parkway and Ring Road.

  • From left, Ruth Reichert, Marilyn Wiseman, Bea Ashman and Frances Miller, new members of the Woman’s Club of Elizabethtown, attend an orientation and lunch at the home of club president Betty Sue French on Nov. 15. The club has 99 members. The meeting was held to allow new members to ask questions and learn more about the club’s history and to receive dates of interest for upcoming events. Regular club meetings are the first Friday of every month, except January and the summer months, at the Brown-Pusey House.

  • SMITH. Air Force Airman Auntwoin J. Smith Jr. graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland in San Antonio.

    Smith is the son of Lisa and Auntwoin Smith of Elizabethtown.

    He is a 2012 graduate of John Hardin High School.
