  • RIDLON. Michael George Ridlon was promoted to U.S. Captain at Bagram, Afghanistan, on Dec. 1. Ridlon is a 2009 graduate of the U.S. Military Academy in West Point, N.Y. and a 2005 graduate of John Hardin High School.

    His parents, Bill and Pam Ridlon, live in Elizabethtown and work at Fort Knox. Capt. Ridlon is deployed to Afghanistan with the 548th CSSB, from Fort Drum, N.Y.

  • Marine Corps Pvt. 1st Class Jessica D. Hoernke, daughter of Karen and Douglas Hoernke of Rineyville recently earned the title of U.S. Marine after graduating from recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot at Parris Island, S.C.

    Hoernke is a 2012 graduate of John Hardin High School in Elizabethtown.

  • BEABER. Air Force Airman Joshua A. Beaber graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio.

    Beaber is the son of William Lozano of Vine Grove and Tammy Thompson of Palm Bay, Fla.

    He is a 2010 graduate of North Hardin High School in Radcliff.

  • BAILEY. Air Force Airman 1st Class Nicholas R. Bailey graduated from the Utilities Systems Apprentice Course at Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, Texas. A 2011 graduate of Grayson County High School, Bailey is the son of Steve and Valerie Bailey of Clarkson.

  • Air Force Tech. Sgt. Kenneth McKain recently was promoted at Incirlik, Turkey. McKain a 1997 graduate of Central Hardin High School and is the son of Bruce and Karola McKain of Elizabethtown. He and his daughter, Faith Maria McKain, are in their third year in Turkey. McKain is serving in the 39th Security Forces and is in his 12th year of service in the Air Force.

  • The Bridge Community presents its 6th performance of “Behold the Lamb of God: The True Tall Tale of the Coming of Christ” at 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

    It is a singer-songwriter-style concert written by Andrew Peterson that tells the tale of the anticipation and arrival of Jesus in Bethlehem, said worship and arts pastor Matt Black.

    The style of the concert mixes folk, bluegrass, country and rock, he said.

  • Glen Rice and friends will offer Christmas entertainment at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Hodgenville Civic Center.

    Rice performs traditional and gospel Christmas favorites and some original music in “Christmas at the Center: A Lost and Found Christmas.”

    Other musicians include Amber Martin, Pat Portman, Roger Conley, Camille Turner, Ron Benningfield, Eddie Black, Ricky Puckett, Glenn Williams and Lou Bingham.

    Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door. Doors open at 2 p.m.
