  • First Lt. Ashley Jenkins recently returned from her deployment to Afghanistan recently. Jenkins is the daughter of Staff Sgt.’s John and Barbara Jenkins of Elizabethtown and the granddaughter of the late Staff Sgt. Kenneth and Hedy Huffman of Radcliff. Lt. Jenkins is stationed at Fort Bliss, Texas.

    The Fort Knox Chapter of the Military Order of the World Wars held its monthly meeting July 17 at its clubhouse on Fort Knox. MOWW is active in supporting youth development, scouting, excellence in ROTC, veterans activities and the meaningful education in the meaning of patriotism.

  • BYRD. Air Force Airman 1st Class Brian K. Byrd Jr. graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio. Byrd is the son of Deeta Black of Elizabethtown and brother of Asia Floyd of Warrensburg, Mo.

  • AUSA Fort Knox Chapter President Gene Gudenkauf recently presented a 10-year membership award to Dr. Thelma White, president of Elizabethtown Community and Technical College. ECTC has been a strong and faithful member of the Association of the United States Army for the past decade.

  • Sgt. Josh Richardson, center, recently attended and graduated from the Academy of Police Supervision. The (APS) Academy of Police Supervision, also referred to as the sergeant’s academy, is a three-week, 120-hour training program for newly promoted sergeants or officers who are on their agency’s promotion list.
