  • Potted Few dedicates memorial marker

    The Fort Knox Potted Few Garden Club participated in the dedication and presentation of a new Blue Star Memorial Highway Marker which now stands in the front garden of the Hart County I-65 Rest Stop near mile marker 60. These memorial markers are a tribute to members of the Armed Forces who have defended the United States of America. The Dogwood District of Garden Clubs, in cooperation with the Garden Club of Kentucky, Inc., and the Department of Highways, presented the Marker on April 16. The Kentucky Orchestra Brass Quintet provided music for the dedication.

  • Radcliff Woman’s Club helps SprigHaven for Easter

    Making a difference in our communities is the goal of the Radcliff Woman’s Club. By helping SpringHaven the club fulfills one of their endeavors. SpringHaven is a refuge center for abused women and children of Hardin County and several other counties. With the support of the members of the Radcliff Woman’s Club Josette Roush will present Easter baskets for the children living at the center at this time.

  • Elizabethtown Woman’s Club attends convention

    The Woman’s Club of Elizabethtown participated in the General Federation of Women’s Clubs - Kentucky Federation of Women’s Clubs Convention from April 14- 16 at the Crown Plaza Hotel in Louisville. Club members in attendance were Diane Willis, Regina Lancaster, Betty Sue French, Kay Barrett, club President Martha Mengel and Bobbie Dille.

    Special visitors at the Cecilia Community Ruritan club meeting recently were Ruritan National Director Anne Hillard and Chester Hillard, Bluegrass District governor from Frankfort. They spoke about the advantages available to the local Ruritan clubs such as scholarships, discounts, liability insurance, etc.

  • AP Classes give students a head start

    For most students, the early days of May mean getting ready for summer break. But other students have an additional stress before they can think about tanning.

    These students will take Advanced Placement (AP) exams from May 2 to May 13. More than 30 subjects are available. Students in AP classes who have chosen to take the exam have been preparing through the entire school year, maybe during the previous summer, for this two- to three-hour test.

  • First Baptist to host presentation of 'They Call Him Jesus'

    First Baptist Church of Elizabethtown and First Baptist Church of Columbia will have a joint presentation of “They Call Him Jesus,” an Easter musical drama about the trial, death and resurrection of Jesus at 7 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, 107 Bishop Lane, Elizabethtown.

    The project is created and produced by Larry Smith, who wrote and produced “A Journey to Freedom,” a much-acclaimed musical drama in celebration of the bicentennial anniversary of the birth of President Abraham Lincoln.

  • Runyeon to perform 'The Gospel of Mark' at Grace Heartland

    Television and film star Frank Runyeon will bring his acclaimed performance of “The Gospel of Mark” to Grace Heartland Church at 7 p.m. Friday. He also was at Grace Heartland in 2008.

    Runyeon starred opposite Meg Ryan on “As the World Turns”  in the ’80s as well as on several other television shows and feature films. He also has performed on stage in New York.

  • Connections Church to have its first service on Easter

    A new church, Connections Church, will launch its first worship service at 10:45 a.m. Easter Sunday at Colvin Community Center in Radcliff.

    “This will be a high-impact church to reach all people in Hardin County,”  Senior Pastor Dr. Jim Shaw said.

    W.L. McCoy, associate pastor, will lead in worship and education. He states, “The music will be contemporary, joyful, even Christian rock … where all ages can worship the Lord in spirit and truth.”
