  • Helen Clark will celebrate her 100th birthday from noon to 3 p.m. June 16 at the community room of the Lincoln Museum.

    She is the wife of the late Paul Clark.

    She has five children, Geneva Viers, Doris Jones, Betty Allen and LeRoy Clark, all of Hodgenville, and Zelma Potts of Woodlawn, Tenn.; 13 grandchildren, one who is deceased; 30 great-grandchildren, one who is deceased; and 25 great-great-grandchildren.

    All friends and relatives are invited to attend the celebration. Please no gifts.

    The bride-to-be is a graduate of Yale University and received a Master of Business Administration from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. She is a management consultant.

  • Steven Barrowes and Hope Richardson Barrowes of Elizabethtown will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary June 14, 2012.

    They were married June 14, 1962, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormon) Temple in Salt Lake City.

    Mr. Barrowes is a retired physicist and Mrs. Barrowes is a retired legal secretary. They are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Elizabethtown.

    The bride-to-be is a 2006 graduate of Elizabethtown High School. She is an office assistant through Workforce Solutions at Elizabethtown Community and Technical College.

    The prospective groom is a 2009 graduate of North Hardin High School and is employed at Altec Industries.

  • Larry Meyer and Janet Groll Meyer of Glendale will celebrate their 50th anniversary June 24, 2012.

    They were married June 24, 1962, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Holgate, Ohio, by the Rev. Donald Schumm.

    Mr. Meyer is retired from Thriftway Lumber in Owensboro and Mrs. Meyer is retired from J.C. Penney. They are members of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church.

    I look at the date I just typed and shake my head in disbelief. Here it is the sixth month of the year, meaning the year nearly is half gone. I can’t imagine how time passes so quickly. I guess it just goes to prove that “Life is like a roll of toilet paper, the nearer the end the faster it goes.” Ha. Just as well laugh and make the most of all the enjoyment about us to be had.

    They were married June 15, 1962, at Highland Park Wesleyan Methodist Church in Louisville by the Rev. Toler.

    They have a son, Kenneth Watts of Louisville; one granddaughter; one stepgrandson; and one stepgreat-grandson.

    The couple will celebrate with a trip to Gatlinburg, Tenn.
