    The pools are filled with people and summer is off to a great start. The weather has been very cooperative and hopefully it will continue. A few rainy days are great for the gardens and for staying inside to play board games but the sunshine makes for fulfilled days outside. Have a great Memorial Day full of memories and fun.

    BENEFIT. There will be a benefit supper and auction for Eddie Booker beginning at 5 p.m. June 9 in the Blueball Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. Eddie has been off from work since the last of February because of health problems. The benefit supper and auction will help cover medical expenses and loss of work.

    BIRTHDAY WISHES. Happy birthday to Kayla Beeler and Kayla Booker Green on May 29. Also happy birthday this week to Suzanne Dennis and Doris Masterson. Happy belated birthday to McKenzie Bailey.

    Tuesday was election day. We fulfilled our obligation by going first thing and casting our two votes. I can’t remember of ever attending an election with no more options as to candidates. But to whomever had a name on the ballot, it was important. It will make all the difference as to whether that name will be on the ballot this fall.

  • Johnathan and Brittney Carl of Hodgenville and Sophia Carl announce the birth of a daughter and sister, Lydia Hope Carl, on March 13, 2012, at Hardin Memorial Hospital. She weighed 7 pounds and was 18.5 inches long.

    Grandparents are Ronald and Darlene Basham of Rineyville, David and Angie Carl of Houston and the late Lerryn Carl.

    Great-grandparents are Shirley Basham of Vine Grove, John and Margenia Dougherty of Radcliff and Arlene Holden of Waite Hill, Ohio.
