    STEPHENSBURG DAYS. Stephensburg Days are coming up June 21 and 22. The baby and beauty contest sign ups are at 6 p.m. June 21. For information, call Betty Pullen, yes that’s me, at  862-4844. Sign up fee is $15.

    There will be a corn hole tournament. Registration is at 6 p.m. and the tournament will start shortly after. It is hosted by Trevor Mather. Karaoke will start at 7 p.m.

    I got to spend this past weekend in Cincinnati with my mom. I love being with her. She truly is my best friend. The funny thing is, the very things that used to drive her crazy about my grandma, I now see in her. When I mention this to her, she says that grandma was great and why shouldn’t she be like her. I can’t help but wonder if in another 20 years, my son and I will be having the same conversation.

  • Don and Joy Waters of Cecilia announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Amanda Waters, to Joe Nugent, son of Ray and Jane Nugent of Loretto.

    The bride-to-be is a 2004 graduate of Central Hardin High School. She is a Western Kentucky University graduate with a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Arts, both in elementary education. She was a fifth-grade teacher at Morningside Elementary School for the past five years and hopes to continue her teaching career in Lexington.

    We finally got about an inch of much needed rain last Sunday night; the ground has been cracking from the dry weather in this area. Even though it has been dry, we still are thankful we haven’t had any of the terrible storms prevalent in many areas. Such a tragedy.
