  • During a recent campout at Otter Creek Par,k the scouts of Boy Scout Troop 24 took advantage of the scenery the park has to offer. One of the requirements to earn the camping merit badge is to backpack for at least four miles. The scouts accomplished this by backpacking one of the trails at the park. Along the trail, they stopped and ate a lunch of dehydrated meals on the rocks high above the Ohio River.   

  • School was in session for the Heart of Kentucky Realtors luncehon Sept. 5 when the Radcliff Woman's Club provided the meal and decorated the room in an educational theme.

     The school-themed decorations, which included miniature desks, a handbell and of course, apples, were only outshined by the food prepared by woman's club members.

     Maria Batistoni, who was in charge, brought trays of stuffed shells; Mary Agnes Sears provided hamburger noodle casserle; and Emma Rosenkrantz shared chicken cordon bleu. 

  • Nelle Thomas was the guest speaker at the Aug. 1 meeting of the Elizabethtown Lions Club.   • SHEPHERD-HELM. Air Force Airman Justin T. Shepherd-Helm graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio. A 2011 graduate of Hart County High School, he is the son of Denise Helm of Magnolia.

  • BRYANT. Army Pfc. Jonathan A. Bryant has graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning in Columbus, Ga. A 2011 graduate of North Hardin High School, he is the son of Susan Bryant of Radcliff.

  • TAFT. Air Force Airman Alexia N. Taft graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio. A 2010 graduate of North Hardin High School, she is the daughter of Marlo Taft of Radcliff.

  • REED. Army National Guard Pvt. Chelsea A. Reed has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson in Columbia, S.C. A 2009 graduate of LaRue County High School, she is the daughter of Dara Reed of Magnolia.
