  • Alice Alexander Coffman and Lewis O’Brien, both of Elizabethtown, were married Aug. 14, 2011, in the Brown-Pusey House Garden in Elizabethtown by John Simcoe..

    The bride is the daughter of Sam and Mary Ann Alexander of Elizabethtown. The groom is the son of Brenda O’Brien of Elizabethtown and the late Johnie O’Brien.

    The bride was given in marriage by her daughter, Jordan Coffman. Maid of honor was Jordan Coffman; bridesmaids were Allison O’Brien and Abby O’Brien, daughters of the groom.

  • Katie Marie Nalley and Jeffrey David Grim, both of Elizabethtown, were married Jan. 7, 2012, in Clearwater, Fla., by the Rev. Curt.

    The bride is the daughter of Joey and Debbie Nalley of Elizabethtown. The groom is the son of Kim Grim and Mike Fowler of Mammoth Cave and Troy and Jenny Gorbey of Eaglelake, Fla.

    The bride was given in marriage by her parents. Matron of honor was Amy Nalley of Eastview, sister-in-law of the bride. Bridesmaid was Jenny Gorbey of Eaglelake Fla., stepmother of the groom.

  • MR. AND MRS. GREY THEN…AND NOW

    Freddie and Frances Grey of White Mills celebrated their 50th anniversary Feb. 4, 2012.

    They were married Feb. 4, 1962 in Eastview.

    Mrs. Grey is a member of The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She is a self-employed farmer and was a stay-at-home mom. She has been involved in voluntary ministry work for 30 years.

    Mr. Grey also is a member of The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. He is a self-employed farmer and also has been a sawmill operator.

  • Feeding America, Kentucky’s Heartland Volunteer of the Month, Russell DeSpain, was presented a certificate by Executive Director, Don Fulford.

  • Elizabethtown Tourism and Convention Bureau Chairman Jim Long presents a $1,200 check to Joe Wilson of the Mid-South Coca-Cola Collector’s Club. The funds were used to assist in advertising for the 2011 Septemberfest event. The event drew in Coca-Cola collectors from all over the country to Elizabethtown.

  • Stephanie Hart and Kevin Vittitow of Elizabethtown Community and Technical College were student guests at the Elizabethtown Rotary Club meeting Jan. 31.

  • Air Force Airman 1st Class Nathan K. Chitwood graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.

  • Sculptures incorporating experiences of exploring the woods around Bardstown take the spotlight beginning Monday at the Morrison Gallery at Elizabethtown Community and Technical College.

    The sculptures are the work of artist John “Jake” Oxnard and will be on display through March 25.

    Oxnard, who graduated from the University of Kentucky with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, also used his study of cabinetry at Nelson County Vocational Technical School in Bardstown as a foundation for his work.
