    Pizza first starts with the crust. There are so many forms to use but here are a few easy ones.

    In the grocery store you can buy a pouch of pizza crust mix, usually for $1 or less. After making the mixture, roll it out on a pan and get ready for toppings.

  • Creating a balance in his life, psychologist Rollin Rhodes has made time to do a number of things he enjoys, not the least of which is building and sailing full-size wooden boats.

    Rhodes, who has his own practice and also works at Ireland Army Community Hospital, said he began crafting boats as an offshoot of his woodworking hobby. Boat building proved to be the most challenging of his woodworking projects.

    “There’s nothing square about them,” he said.

  • Joe and Jennie Lew of Upton announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Lanea Burden of Upton, to Ricky Cottrell of Upton, son of Danny Cottrell of Upton and Linda and Carl Thompson of Glendale. The bride-to-be also is the daughter of Carolyn Burden of Elizabethtown and the late Neil Burden.

    The bride-to-be is a manager at Oak Ridge Hidden Hill.

    The prospective groom is the owner of Rick’s Body Shop.

    The wedding is at 2 p.m. June 2, 2012, at Sand Springs Church in Glendale.

    Formal invitation will be sent.

  • Bobby and Kathy Bruce of Eastview announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Leah Jonelle Bruce, to Jacob Cody Harper, son of Donald and Valecia Harper of Cecilia.

    The bride-to-be is a 2004 graduate of Central Hardin High School and is a loan processor at the Bank of Clarkson.

    The prospective groom is an emergency department tech at Hardin Memorial Health, a full-time student at Elizabethtown Community and Technical College and is pursuing a career as a registered nurse.

    The pools are filled with people and summer is off to a great start. The weather has been very cooperative and hopefully it will continue. A few rainy days are great for the gardens and for staying inside to play board games but the sunshine makes for fulfilled days outside. Have a great Memorial Day full of memories and fun.

    BENEFIT. There will be a benefit supper and auction for Eddie Booker beginning at 5 p.m. June 9 in the Blueball Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. Eddie has been off from work since the last of February because of health problems. The benefit supper and auction will help cover medical expenses and loss of work.

    BIRTHDAY WISHES. Happy birthday to Kayla Beeler and Kayla Booker Green on May 29. Also happy birthday this week to Suzanne Dennis and Doris Masterson. Happy belated birthday to McKenzie Bailey.
