  • Alex Eskridge, a sophomore at Western Kentucky University, has been awarded the first scholarship offered by the Mid-Kentucky Kennel Club. Eskridge has been active in the sport of purebred dogs since the age 8 when she began showing Keeshonden and Great Pyrenees in the conformation ring.She also participated in junior showmanship. She recently joined the Mid-Kentucky Kennel Club and also is a member of the Louisville Kennel Club. Pictured with Alex are Mid-Kentucky members Jack Shacklett, Mary Gitner and Tiffany Murphy.

  • For the 19th consecutive year, the Fort Knox Area Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) is sponsoring scholarships for graduating seniors attending a high school or home school program in Fort Knox, Hardin County, Meade County, LaRue County, Elizabethtown Independent, FAITH Home School and North Hardin Christian School.

  • LLERAS. Air National Guard Airman 1st Class Luis A. Lleras graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland in San Antonio.

    Lleras is the son of Alicia and Victor Lleras of Radcliff.

    He is a 2012 graduate of North Hardin High School.

  • DURHAM. Air National Guard Airman 1st Class Buni L. Durham graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland in San Antonio.

    Durham is the daughter of Linda Durham of Radcliff.

    She is a 2007 graduate of John Hardin High School. She earned a bachelor’s degree in 2012 from the University of Louisville.

  • Pictured at Warm Blessings is State Rep. Tim Moore as he displays a bowl he made for the Warm Blessings “Empty Bowls” dinner and community leader bowl auction. Moore’s bowl along with other community leader bowls will be sold during the event from 4 to 7 p.m. March 8, with the auction at 5 p.m. Auctioneer Kenny Lewis along with Senator Dennis Parrett will lead the auction.

  • Italian guitarist Beppe Gambetta will appear on stage at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Hardin County Schools Performing Arts Center at John Hardin High School.

    Gambetta has produced 11 CDs and collaborated with many top musicians. He lives in Genova, Italy, but travels to North America often and participates in many music festivals.

    His music has been performed within the historic walls of the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tenn., and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.
