  • You might recognize the name Cesar Millan as the “Dog Whisperer” who made his name as a trainer of difficult dogs. He had his own television show and wrote several books.

    Millan had a very unfortunate run of events. He was divorced from his wife of 16 years and estranged from his children, his favorite pit bull died, his television show taken away from him and he found out most of the money he earned was no longer his.

    The Miss Hardin County Fair Pageant is at 8 p.m. Monday, on opening night of the Hardin County Fair. Miss Hardin County Fair 2012 and reigning Miss Kentucky County Fair, Jenna Walters, will crown this year’s winner.

    The following 17 young ladies will compete for this year’s title.

    Amber Rene Vincent, 17, daughter of James and Lesley Vincent of Elizabethtown, sponsored by her parents and Bangz Salon.

    Dashawna Bird, 20, daughter of Henry and Brenda Divis of Elizabethtown, sponsored by Mark Martin of A-1 Allergy Relief.

  • Stephen and Rebecca Williams Copelin of Clarkson announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their son, Kyle Stephen Copelin, to Rachel Renay Miller, daughter of Jimmy and Angie Miller of Sweeden.

    The bride-to-be is employed with the U.S. Postal Service.

    The prospective groom is employed with Chad Haycraft Concrete.

    The wedding is at 6 p.m. CDT July 12, 2013, near their future home, 870 Little Mountain Road, Sweeden.

    Today I got to visit a women’s help center called Nicole’s Place. I was there to help teach children about Jesus, but just watching the work that goes on there was inspiring. The workers there were so caring about their clients. It is a Christian-based organization that touches the lives of many women and their children. It is so wonderful to see women helping each other through Jesus.
