  • Sylvester Burg of Elizabethtown, formerly of new Holstein, Wisconsin, will celebrate his 97th birthday today with his family,
    He was born Aug. 30, 1918, in Fond du lac, Wisconsin. He is a retired master sergeant and a World War II veteran with 26 years of service.

  • Gracie Davenport of Sonora announces the birth of a sister, Hagan Jo Davenport, on Jan. 19, 2015, at Hardin Memorial Hospital. She weighed 6 pounds, 13 ounces and was 18 inches long.
    Parents are Justin and Kelly Davenport of Sonora.
    Maternal grandparents are Sharon and Roger Carroll of Sonora.

  • Laura Jade and Boomer Sadler of Upton announce the birth of a son, Kemp Ryne Sadler, on Aug. 7, 2015, at Hardin Memorial Hospital. He weighed 7 pounds, 12 ounces and was 18½ inches long.
    Maternal grandparents are David and Beany Kemper of Upton.
    Paternal grandparents are George and Sheryl Sadler of Sonora.

  • Johnnie and Brenda Overstreet of Howevalley and  Mike and Cindy Wimp of Cecilia announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their children, Margaret “Maggie” Lee Overstreet to Kyle Matthew Wimp.
    The bride-to-be is a 2011 graduate of Central Hardin High School and is attends Elizabethtown Community and Technical College. She is employed by Kroger.

  • The Hardin County AM Rotary Club welcomed District Governor Mike Kull to the July 31 meeting. He enjoyed the one on one time with one of the 57 Rotary clubs in the western district of Kentucky. Kuhl learned about the many service projects the Rotary club has participated in during the last year.
    One of those projects included the upcoming Oktoberfest on Oct. 10.
