    Rondo Jackson presented a metal laser-cut plaque of the Vietnam Veterans of America to Chapter 1051. The plaque was made by James Etherton and given to Rondo Jackson to present.

  • DUNCAN. Air National Guard Airman Shane M. Duncan graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio. A 2011 graduate of Elizabethtown High School, he is the son of Craig and Sally Duncan of Elizabethtown.

  • PUGH. Air Force Airman Shawn A. Pugh graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio. He is the son of Bonnie Pugh of West Point.

  • EVANS. Navy Seaman Recruit Cherise A. Evans, daughter of Tracey Evans of Radcliff and Michael Evans of Anaheim, Calif., recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, Ill. Evans is a 2008 graduate of North Hardin High School.

  • JONES. Navy Seaman Apprentice Juan A. Faria Jones, son of Nigza T. Jones of Paducah and Juan Faria Hernandez of Radcliff, recently was promoted to his current rank upon graduation from recruit training at Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, Ill. Faria Jones received the early promotion for outstanding performance during all phases of the training cycle. He is a 2012 graduate of Lone Oak High School in Paducah.

  • SORILLA. Army Pfc. Ysidro O. Sorilla has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson in Columbia, S.C. A 2008 graduate opf Central Hardin High School, he is the son of Daniella and Brian Mullins of Hinesville, Ga.

  • Cindy Gibson, Hardin County AM Rotary president, with Carl Howell, who was the guest speaker at the Sept. 28 meeting, and H.Y. David.

  • James Hilton Henderson will celebrate his 90th birthday Oct. 27, 2012.

    A lifelong resident of White Mills and Hardin County, he is a World War II Navy veteran and was a body shop foreman for Pate Motors, Tinsley’s Olds and Wilson’s Olds and Cadillac until his retirement. He now is a master tinkerer, gardener, avid fisherman and grandfather and great-grandfather.

    There will be a surprise open house from 3 to 5 p.m. Oct. 27 at Pritchard Community Center. All friends and relatives are invited to attend. Please, no gifts.

  • Rolling Thunder Inc. Chapter Four Kentucky met Sept. 9 for the monthly membership meeting. Lorie Miller spoke of her gratitude of the Rolling Thunder organization. Her family was blessed with the Chapters presence during the illnesses and deaths of her Uncles Joe and Kenneth Mattingly at the VA hospital and later at the funeral home. Both uncles had liver cancer and were awaiting transplants. A certificate of appreciation was presented to her.
