  • An Elizabethtown High School senior lived up to her surname this fall by sending soldiers gifts from home.

    Jada Love, a senior at Elizabethtown High School, organized a “Bless a Soldier” campaign at her school, which encouraged people to bring items to send to military members overseas. Love brought the campaign to school after her church, Embry Chapel African Methodist Episcopcal Church, collected items from congregation members.

  • The Fort Knox Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America held its monthly meeting Oct. 17 at the MOAA Clubhouse at Fort Knox. The meeting had a Halloween theme and many members came in costume.

  • TUREAUD. Army Pfc. Jessia T. Tureaud has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson in Columbia, S.C. A 2011 graduate of Fort Knox High School, she is the daughter of Shannon Tureaud and John Johnson, both of Radcliff.

  • NELSON. Army Pvt. Milton A. Nelson has graduated from One Station Unit Training at Fort Leonard Wood in Waynesville, Mo. A 2010 graduate of Fort Knox High School, he is the son of Jennifer Davenport of Smith’s Station, Ala., and the grandson of Betty Lapann of Cedartown, Ga.

  • ALFRED. Army Reserve Pvt. Stephon T. Alfred has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson in Columbia, S.C. A 2011 graduate of Hardin County High School, he is the son of Landa and Dennis Alfred of Dallas.

  • Army Sgt. Charnelle R. Donalson has arrived for duty as an Army recruiter assigned to the Chicago Army Recruiting Battalion at Glendale Heights Army Recruiting Station in Illinois. She has served in the military for four years. A 2007 graduate of Northeast High School in Clarksville, Tenn., she is the daughter of Arvetta Donalson of Radcliff.

  • At the Oct. 9 meeting of the Elizabethtown Lions Club, Lion Al Mather introduced the club’s Elizabethtown High School Student of the Month Ben Brown. He has maintained a 4.0 grade-point average in school while playing soccer for five years. He has received the highest end of course assessment score in social studies of all 2012-13 seniors.
