  • When children are home on Christmas break, sometimes you can run out of things to do. It’s always a great idea to head to the kitchen and make some fun treats.

Pinterest has plenty of ideas to choose from. But sometimes, including the two I chose, there only is a photo to go by with no recipe instructions.

  • As I write this column, on Dec. 18, it is exactly one week until Christmas. Our mail lady brought three packages to the front door today. Gee, I thought I was through wrapping presents.

When thinking about what to write this week, I became nostalgic and wondered what I wrote in columns at this time of the year during the last seven years. Two years I wrote memoirs without recipes. This week I present to you a collection of favorites from 2006, 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012.

The forecast for Christmas does not seem to include any white stuff. It will be a wonderful holiday with or without snow. I wish everyone a very Merry Christmas.

Hello to all. I don’t really have any news this week. Just thinking over the year gone by. This year has gone by fast in a lot of ways but then some days slow as Christmas. Yes, I know that is the season we are in now. There are so many things that run through my head.

Merry Christmas everyone and a Happy New Year to all. It doesn’t seem possible that by the time you read my next newsletter, Christmas will already have come and gone. With the year 2014 staring us in the face. Certainly hope it will be a good and prosperous year for everyone.

KENTUCKY WEATHER. Cool temperatures and now there is talk of thunderstorms. Good grief Charlie Brown. Please let there be snow on Christmas Day.

Mom decorated a snowman tree this year. She even put black boots for his feet. She loves anything to do with snowmen. She likes to collect them.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JESUS.There was a baby born on this day in a stable, wrapped in swaddling clothes lying in a manger. His name is Jesus.
