  • Mary Ella Tabb of Elizabethtown will celebrate her 90th birthday today, March 17, 2013.

    Born March 20, 1923, she is a lifelong resident of Hardin County. She was married to the late George W. Tabb and is a member of Valley Creek Baptist Church.

    She has four children, Cordell Tabb, Linda Jayne, Brenda Reynolds and Peggy Thompson, all of Elizabethtown; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

    She will have a private celebration with her family.

  • Mildred Richardson of Tacoma, Wash., will celebrate her 90th birthday at 3 p.m. today, March 17, 2013, at Bristol Café in Louisville with her family and friends.

    As I write this the sun is shining beautifully and it looks warm outside, but I think it is a bit chilly according to the thermometer. Just eight or nine more days until spring officially is here.

    ORGANIZATION NEWS. Pirtle Chapter No. 449 Order of the Eastern Star members met Saturday evening for the regular monthly meeting, and it was well attended. The meeting began with a delicious potluck meal, and as usual an abundance of food.

    Hello everyone, I hope you all are doing well. There is not much going on in the Burg this week. I am hoping that spring will come soon and bring the sunshine. My old bones get cold these days.

    I was talking with Wilma Ford, who is Mae Fern Ford’s daughter–in-law and she was telling that Mae Fern had a little set back with her surgery, but is doing much better now. I know I had a lot of people ask about her, so as of now she is improving.

    The bride-to-be graduated cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in child development and family studies from West Virginia University. She is a substitute teacher in Mongongalia County, W.Va.
