  • Recipe correction: The Apple Cream Cheese Bundt Cake recipe published Oct. 18 requires 1/2 stick of margarine in the cream cheese filling and 1/2 stick of margarine in the frosting. The recipe incorrectly listed 1 stick for each.

  • The recipe featured today has really made the rounds since I first ran it in 2007. I originally got it from Karen Himmelheber who was stationed at Fort Knox and who attended my church, Radcliff Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Karen was a fantastic cook, and you will get another one of her recipes in a couple weeks.

  • HOGGE. Navy Senior Chief Petty Officer Phillip O. Hogge, a 1985 graduate of LaRue County High School in Hodgenville, was recently awarded the Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medal, gold star in lieu of fourth award, while serving as auxiliary division leading chief petty officer onboard USS Helena (SSN 725) Naval Station in Norfolk, Va.

  • Soldiers and family members from the 3rd Sustainment Command (Expeditionary) participate in the unit’s Trunk or Treat event at the 3rd ESC headquarters on Oct. 27. A trunk or treat is an event in which participants decorate their vehicles in a parking lot and have children move from car to car, rather than house to house.

  • Athletes know they have to perform under pressure. The pressure often comes from having to do their best when it matters most during an athletic event. Athletes are in control of their actual performance on the playing field.

  • The following marriage dissolutions have been granted in Hardin Circuit Court in Elizabethtown.

  • Capt. Krystal Gail Sherwood and Capt. Chris Fredrick Stoinoff III, both of Radcliff, were married Sept. 9, 2011, with military honors, by the Rev. Michael Boyd at Concordia Lutheran Church in Louisville.

    The bride is the daughter of John and Gail Sherwood of Radcliff and the granddaughter of Vincent and Rachel Lemenager of Ashkum, Ill., and the late James and Anna Mae Sherwood of Chebanse, Ill.
