  • The Shriners of AL-Nahda Temple No. 247, A.E.A.O.N.M.S, P.H.A of Elizabethtown held its second annual Charity and Potentate Ball on July 11.
    During this event, the Shriners awarded student aid to three young adults to assist them in obtaining their educational goals.

  • Shirley Swain of Traverse City, Michigan, and Elizabethtown, celebrated her 86th birthday Aug. 18, 2015, with her family.
    She was born Aug. 18, 1929, in Traverse City, the daughter of the late Harold and Ruby Ransom. She married her husband, the late Lester Swain, on Oct. 14, 1950, and retired from the city of Dearborn, where she worked with senior citizens.
