  • Laughter is on the schedule at the Historic State Theater this weekend.

    The State hosts a Comedy Caravan beginning at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

    Showtime veterans Bob Batch and Mike Nilsson will perform. Street Russell will emcee the event.

    Batch and Nilsson have 25 years of experience in comedy and their news release touts clean material.

  • The Missoula Children’s Theatre, a touring theater group, is back in town and auditioning students for “Hansel and Gretel.”

    Auditions are at 4 p.m. Monday at the Hardin County Schools Performing Arts Center at John Hardin High School at 384 W.A. Jenkins Road in Elizabethtown.

  • The Hardin County Playhouse is holding auditions for a stage version of Harper Lee’s classic book “To Kill a Mockingbird.”

    Auditions are at 6:30 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at Plum Alley Theater. Rehearsals for the production begin Aug. 30 and the performance runs Oct. 10-12 and 16-19.





    Helen Clark Reesor will celebrate her 99th birthday today, Aug. 15, 2014. 

    She was born Aug. 15, 1915, in Cecilia. 

  • Where I lived as a child, life always seemed boring. Sound familiar parents of youngsters in Hardin County?

    But now at 54 years of age and thankful to wake up every morning to meet a new day, I am filled with memories from growing up in that "boring'' town that left an indelible mark on my life and still leaves a smile on my face and in my mind.
