    Radcliff Woman’s Club met July 8 at Colvin Community Center. Anne Aubrey introduced the guest speaker, Radcliff Deputy Fire Marshal John Vandermolen. Vandermolen explained that there is a need for three large screens for use within the community center.  The screens would be used by not only the fire department, but also by other city departments and many civic organizations which utilize the community center.

  • After last week’s bacon-wrapped treat that was yummy but totally unhealthy, this adventure is more on the healthy side.

    Often, when a recipe says it is “fit and tasty,” I find it’s neither. Usually, when something is labeled as “fit,” you have to give up some of the taste, and if it’s labeled “tasty,” it really isn’t all that fit.

    But, if the recipe is correct on the calorie count, this one is both.

    What makes this pizza great is fresh ingredients and using other ingredients in moderation.

  • At 83, Chieko Davis keeps busy with a variety of talents and interests.

    Davis’ friend Janet Gebler calls her a renaissance woman.

    “Chieko has become extremely accomplished in art, music, gardening and cooking,” Gebler said. “But what is most impressive about Chieko is that in spite of all her accomplishments she is a genuinely shy and humble person.”

  • “I would have loved to have been a rock star when I was young but I’m kind of glad I didn’t take that route,” Elizabethtown resident Steve McCann said.

    McCann, an information technology manger at AGC Automotive Americas, said drumming for Soul Soup in Nashville is close enough to his rock star dreams.

    In kindergarten, he asked his parents for the gift all parents dread, a drum set.

  • Stephanie Valadez of Radcliff and Dallas Dougherty of Fort Knox, were married July 6, 2013,  at Pritchard Community Center in Elizabethtown by Lisa Williams.

    The bride is the daughter of Patricia Johnson of Radcliff and Jose and Debi Valadez of Riceville, Tenn.

    The groom is the son of Vicki Dougherty of East Jordan, Mich., and Duwayne and Rosemary Dougherty of Traverse City, Mich.

    Maid of honor was Megan Johnson of Radcliff, sister of the bride.

    Best man was Chad Kramer of East Jordan, Mich.

  • Elra and Regina Dowell celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary July 16, 2013, in their home with family and friends.

    Mr. Dowell is a World War II veteran who served in the Third Army with General George S. Patton.

    They have a daughter, Linda Grimes; seven grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

  • John and Julie Oser Aldridge of Radcliff will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary today, July 28, 2013.

    They were married July 28, 1973, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper, Ind.

    Mr. Aldridge is retired from Cardinal Health in Radcliff.

    Mrs. Aldridge is employed by the city of Radcliff and is a member of Radcliff Woman’s Club.

    They have two daughters, Gina Aldridge Clear and Heather Aldridge, both of Radcliff.
