  • Sean and Mia Wireman announce the birth of a son, Andrew Morganthal Wireman, on Aug. 22, 2011, at Hardin Memorial Hospital. He weighed 7 pounds, 12 ounces and was 19.25 inches long.

    Sisters are Katherine and Caroline.

    Grandparents are George and Linda Wireman of Franklin, Ind., and Jack and Wandalee Crain-Watts of Joplin, Mo. 

  • McKenna and Macy Johnson announce the birth of a sister, Megan Elizabeth Johnson, on March 24, 2011, at Hardin Memorial Hospital. She weighed 6 pounds, 12 ounces and was 18 ½ inches long.

    Parents are Matt and Shauna Johnson of Elizabethtown.

    Maternal grandparents are Doug and Vickie Hilton of Hodgenville. Paternal grandparents are Rodney and Diana Johnson of Elizabethtown.

  • Starr and Sherry Adams of Elizabethtown will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Oct. 15, 2011.

    They were married Oct. 15, 1961, at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Cooks Mills, Ill.

    They have two children, Eric Adams of Elizabethtown and Wendy Dykes of Columbia; and nine grandchildren.

  • Jim and Noreida Reesor of Radcliff celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary on Oct. 3, 2011.

    They were married Oct. 3, 1956, at Horse Cave Baptist Church in Horse Cave.

    They have three children, Lynne Evans, Vicki Houk and Lisa Ortis; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

  • Jimmy and Marie Uzzell will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house given by their children and grandchildren from 2 to 4 p.m., Oct. 15, 2011, at College Heights United Methodist Church in Elizabethtown.

    They were married Oct. 15, 1961, by the Rev. A.J. Irvin at Glenn’s Chapel United Methodist Church near Spring Hill, Tenn.

    They are members of College Heights United Methodist Church.

    All friends and relatives are invited to attend.

    The couple request no gifts.

  • Winners in the age 11 and under category, first place Casey Priddy, second place Savannah Sheyenne Rose and third place Kelly Logsdon; age 12 to 17 winners were: first place Michalea Rock and  second place was the duo of Ashley Dorsey and Kate Carnes; age 18 and over, first place tie with Alex Nunn and Grant Miller, second place was Clint Abell and third place was Bridgett Nealy. Overall contest winner and winner of $100 was Grant Miller.

  • Upton Days was held Sept. 17 in Upton and recently, the winers of the car show were announced. Not pictured but winner in the Best Truck category was Ray Nunn Jr. of Upton.

  • Christian pop band Newsboys has seen numerous lineup changes over the years, but keyboard player Jeff Frankenstein believes that’s a good thing because it indicates the band is still evolving.

    “It feels like we just started again,” Frankenstein said of the band’s success since landing Michael Tait as its front man in 2009.

    Frankenstein said he prefers to be part of something that’s growing and evolving rather than hanging onto something that’s fading.
