  • One of my all-time favorite meals is a special egg salad made with grilled asparagus served on a good multi-grain bread. I always have a loaf of Tastefully Simple’s Wheat Beer Bread made, so this is my bread of choice. The recipe for the egg salad originally came from Debbie Ferrante, who had a coffee café, Uncommon Grounds, just off the square in Elizabethtown some 15 or 20 years ago.

You can make the egg salad with boiled asparagus, but it is much better with grilled or roasted asparagus.

We had lived in Lexington previously and I had been employed as secretary to the minister of music at the church I attended, Central Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). The church in Lexington was wonderful; it was a very large church that had a great, large choir and many activities for people of all ages.

  • As usual, I am giving you some new recipes that have been given to me by readers or requested by readers.

  • We are living in the Mobile Age, where we can share and receive information no matter where we are.

This new era is powered by the smartphone, which at one time was reserved for the early adopters and affluent. But prices keep dropping and more people are picking up the little mini-computers that fit in their pockets.

  • Al Rider took a leave of absence from his job in Tennessee to help the North Central Education Foundation in Elizabethtown, his former town of residence.

    That was 20 years ago.

“I came back with the intent of helping the foundation raise money for the college,” Rider said.
