  • The gospel music group “The Elijah Band” recently performed at the Hardin County Chamber Spring Fling. The parents play instruments while the kids sang.

  • Kaitlyn Davis, 10, of Elizabethtown, recently donated 10 inches of hair to Locks of Love. She has donated 35 ½ inches of hair total in three donations. She is the daughter of Scott and Angie Davis and attends G.C. Burkhead Elementary. Davis is pictured with Andy Greenwell of Andy’s Custom Cuts in Elizabethtown, who cut her hair.

  • Shaun Williams of the Work Restitution Initiative was the guest speaker at the May 3 Elizabethtown Rotary Club meeting. He explained a new program to help young people get jobs and make needed financial restitution. Pictured are Elizabethtown Rotary Club President Cathy Williamson and Shaun Williams.

  • When Older Americans Month was established in May 1963, only 17 million living Americans had reached their 65th birthdays. At that time, about a third of older Americans lived in poverty and there were only a few programs to meet their needs. However, national interest in senior citizens and their needs began to circulate through the efforts and wisdom of President John F. Kennedy.
