As Tesia Rivera stood on the porch of her Elizabethtown home, she turned the small silver ring above the knuckle of her right pinky.
The ring, which bears the Girl Scouts’ insignia, was her great-grandmother’s.
“Her fingers were so small,” Rivera said.
Lately, there has been a song stuck in my head, I’m not sure where it came from because I hadn’t heard it played in a long time.
Milissa French’s desire to help others began when she was a child and continues today in her work with Feeding America, Kentucky’s Heartland.
When she was a child in Hodgenville, she enjoyed volunteering at the senior center, nursing homes and other activities.
“Those were fun times for me,” she said.
Despite life’s ups and downs, Cecilia resident Linda Curtsinger exudes a positive energy and doesn’t feel she has to act like some might expect a 52-year-old woman to act.
So I’ve gotten over my fear of taking my children out in public by myself.
Our summer hasn’t been that bad, actually. After a few very, very rough days full of bickering and yelling and bugging each other just for the fun of it, the kids settled down into a sort of truce.
I love looking at old photos — especially black and white photos, taken before color photos became common in the late 1960s.
