My baby brother, Jason, turned 40 in January. I say baby, but he’s a bearded giant when standing next to me — he’s taller than 6 feet.
No matter the age in life, there are principles that need to be taught, practiced or remembered. Virtues such as honesty, integrity, commitment and compassion are among them.
My life has changed in the past year. With it, so did my address, last name and perspective.
It is with a humble heart that I write this column.

We always are making choices, which are an everyday part of our lives.
From the time we are a small child to the time we leave this earth, we make choices.
Sometimes things just don’t turn out as planned.
