• Hardin Countians come together in prayer for city, state, country

    Residents from all over Hardin County stopped at noon Thursday at the H.B. Fife Courthouse to pray together for National Day of Prayer.

    The ceremony opened with scripture from 2 Chronicles 7:14 and continued with a call to prayer by a shofar horn demonstrated by Tom Bissig, event coordinator. Diane Bissig then called out each of the cities in Hardin County so all were represented.

    “I’m grateful for the people who showed up today because you’re supporting the Lord God,” Tom Bissig said.

    Radcliff Presbyterian Church has recently achieved the designation of an “Earth Care Congregation.”

    ECCs are Presbyterian Congregations who have committed to the “Earth Care Pledge” and have accompl ished a set criteria of ecological actions in four categories:worship, education, facilities and outreach.

  • Ron Lewis at new pulpit

    Ron Lewis has accepted the position of pastor at Youngers Creek Baptist Church.

    Lewis was ordained as a Southern Baptist minister at Friendship Baptist Church No. 2 in Hodgenville in 1980. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in history and political science at the University of Kentucky and a master’s degree in higher education from Morehead University and Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.

  • Jamie Grace to perform at First Christian Church

    Christian recording artist Jamie Grace brings her Do Life Big tour to First Christian Church in Elizabethtown at 7 p.m. March 6.

    The 2012 Grammy-nominated and Dove Award-winning singer and songwriter has toured with artists including Toby Mac, Newsong and Matthew West.

    She’s known for songs such as her debut single, “Hold Me,” featuring Toby Mac, and “Beautiful Day.”

    Radcliff Presbyterian Church recently helped sponsor a presentation by author and environmental activist, Sam Avery. Avery spoke at Elizabethtown Community and Technical College on the paradigm in his 2013 book, “The Pipeline and the Paradigm.” Members of RPC’s “Green Team” educate and encourage the church and its congregants to be environmentally aware and responsible.

  • New church forms in Elizabethtown

    On July 28, a new southern Baptist church was planted in Elizabethtown. On Sept. 1, the congregation voted and was given the name, Sovereign Grace Baptist Church. The church is led by pastors Sonny Hernandez and Jeff Scroggs. Both pastors have earned their Master of Divinity degree and both are doctor of ministry students.

    The congregation meets at 10 a.m. for Sunday school, 11 a.m. for Sunday worship and at 6 p.m. for Sunday evening prayer at Howard Johnson Inn, 1058 N. Mulberry St., Elizabethtown.

  • Radcliff Presbyterian Pastor speaks in Budapest

    Dr. John Lentz, Pastor of Radcliff Presbyterian Church, recently spoke at the first International Conference on Hypnosis and Medicine in Budapest, Hungary. His three presentations centered on teaching medical/healing professionals more about hypnotic approaches that can help with immunity and healing. In addition to being the pastor at Radcliff Presbyterian, Dr. Lentz is a licensed marriage and family therapist. He is the author of several books, one of which shows how the entire Judeo-Christian Bible contains hypnotic language.
