An Elizabethtown man has been charged with two counts of murder and two counts of first-degree assault related to a shooting Thursday night at a North Miles Street convenience store.
Shadrach Peeler, 35, also faces various other charges.
According to an arrest citation, Peeler, a convicted felon, was observed on surveillance video shooting three people last night at the T-Mart at 600 N. Miles St.
One person was killed inside the store and another seriously injured inside the store. Elizabethtown police were called to the scene around 11:30 p.m., according to a department news release.
Peeler was at a West Warfield Street residence with another person, who was found dead near the home. She was shot to death and the shell casings at the scene matched shell casings found at T Mart. She was found between two houses.
Police say he lived with the woman.
Peeler was found at the West Warfield residence where he was armed with a handgun. Confronted by police, Peeler threw the gun away and then was arrested. He had to be subdued by multiple officers, according to the arrest report.
Police have not released the names of any of the victims.
One person is in critical condition after being shot in the neck at the store and a woman was struck in the leg outside of the store.
A candlelight vigil was conducted Friday night at the convenience store for victims of the shooting.
