One person was killed Wednesday and another seriously injured in a three-vehicle crash at the intersection of Ky. 220 and Deckard School Road, according to the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office.

One of the three vehicles involved, Hardin County Sheriff John Ward said, was a dump truck.

A male driver of one of the vehicles was flown to University Hospital where he was pronounced dead. A female driver of another vehicle was taken to Hardin Memorial Hospital and once stabilized, according to a HCSO news release, was airlifted to University Hospital where she was in serious condition Wednesday, according to a HCSO news release.

The driver of a third vehicle was uninjured. There were no passengers in any of the vehicles, according to the release.

The names of those involved in the crash that blocked traffic for a few hours as crash reconstruction was completed are not being released pending contact with next of kin, Ward said.

The crash happened at 8:42 a.m.

HCSO was assisted by Kentucky State Police, Elizabethtown Police Department, Hardin County EMS, Rineyville Fire Department and the Radcliff Fire Department rescue squad.
