Host Elizabethtown had no problem in its Class 3-A playoff opener to set the stage for a rematch with Bardstown this Friday at the Elizabethtown Athletic Complex.

The Panthers routed Thomas Nelson, 49-0, Friday. Bardstown defeated LaRue County, 47-0. Elizabethtown won the first matchup with Bardstown, 20-14 in overtime.

Against Thomas Nelson, senior running back Joseph Becherer rushed for 132 yards on just four carries and scored a pair of touchdowns.

Junior quarterback Clay Games threw for two touchdowns as the Panthers, 9-2, won their seventh straight game.

Senior Love Grimes caught two passes for 89 yards and a score.

Elizabethtown finished with 490 yards of offense, while allowing 94 yards.
