Sprucing up the woodlands

While some children were spending their Saturday playing soccer or sleeping in, students from Woodland Elementary School in Radcliff gathered to help spruce up a nature preserve.

Each spring, students, parents and faculty volunteer their time to get the facility, including an outdoor classroom, ready for spring as part of the Spruce Up the Woodlands event for Earth Day.

“It was much needed after winter,” said Sonja Beardsley, president of the school’s parent teacher association.
