• Roger Cartwright

    Roger Cartwright, 63, of Elizabethtown, passed away Monday, March 12, 2012, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown. 

    He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Edna Stewart Cartwright; two brothers, James Edward and William Joseph Cartwright; and a sister, Joy Barnett.

    He was a member of First Christian Church of Elizabethtown and he worked for Coca-Cola for 37 years. He served 15 years in the Hardin Memorial Hospital Auxiliary where he was Auxiliary president for one year.

  • Ervin Eugene ‘Gene’ Blair

    Ervin Eugene “Gene” Blair, 73, of Elizabethtown, died Monday, March 12, 2012.

    He was a retired senior master sergeant of the U.S. Air Force and a Realtor/auctioneer with Hodges Auction Co. He was a past president and member of the Board of Directors of Hardin County Board of Realtors, and he was a Kentucky Colonel. After retirement, Gene enjoyed playing golf with his Pine Valley “buddies,” fishing with his grandchildren in the backyard and attending country music shows. Gene was also an avid fan of high school and college basketball.

  • Clara Mae Miller Boone

    Clara Mae Miller Boone, 93, of Hodgenville, died Sunday, March 11, 2012, at Helmwood Healthcare Center.

    She was a native of Hardin County, a member of Valley Creek Baptist Church and Pirtle Chapter No. 449 Order of Eastern Star. She worked for 23 years at the Peoples Store and 10 years at Whistle Stop Restaurant.

    Monnie June Long went to be with Jesus on Saturday, March 10, 2012. 

    She was a member of Zion United Methodist Church in Sonora and attended Pathways Community Church in Sevierville, Tenn.

    She was preceded in death by her son, Ron Bailey.

  • Quinn Grant

    Quinn Grant, 63, of Hodgenville, passed away Saturday, March 10, 2012, at Jewish Hospital in Louisville.

    He was a member of the Hodgenville Pentecostal Church. He was the retired owner/operator of Grant’s Appliances in Hodgenville for many years with his wife. He was born April 24, 1948, the son of the late Woodruff Logan and Lucille Janes Grant.

    He was preceded in death by his three sisters, Shirley Eads, Elaine Grant and Reeda Evans.

  • Sarah L. Byrd

    Sarah L. Byrd, 66, of Radcliff, died Sunday, March 11, 2012, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown.

    Ms. Byrd retired from civil service work at Fort Knox.

    She is survived by her daughter, Corlis Justina Byrd of Radcliff; a son, Gary W. Byrd of Louisville; a sister, Sherry Greene of Temple, Texas; two brothers, Artie Ray Kimble of Radcliff and Anthony Kimble of Temple; three grandchildren, James French, Andre’ J. Byrd-French and Abigail Scarlin-Byrd; and four great-grandchildren.

  • Michael Wayne Proctor

    Michael Wayne Proctor, 45, of Pleasure Ridge Park, died Saturday, March 10, 2012.

    He was a truck driver for Victory Packaging, and, before that, Airgas Mid-America. He was an avid U of L fan, NASCAR fan, hunter, outdoor chef and devoted dad.

    He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph W. Proctor; and grandparents, Nyle and Bueford Cartright.

    Survivors include his daughter, Ericka L. Proctor; his mother, Patricia L. Proctor; a brother, Steven L. Proctor; his lifetime friend, Terri J. Brock; and two granddogs, Nyla and Dixie.

  • Clara Gertrude Basham Graham

    Clara Gertrude Basham Graham, 96, of Munfordville, died Saturday, March 10, 2012, at Caverna Memorial Hospital.

    She was born Dec. 23, 1915. She was a retired seamstress, farmer and a member of Madrid Pentecostal Church.

    She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Graham; her parents, Henry Thomas and Celia Smiley Basham; and a daughter, Rita Jean Bratcher.

  • Joseph Thurman Metcalfe

    Joseph Thurman Metcalfe, 78, of Culvertown, died Saturday, March 10, 2012, at his residence.

    Survivors include three sons, Carl Steven “Steve” Metcalfe, Darrell Vincent Metcalfe and Christopher Stuart ”Chris” Metcalfe; and one daughter, Patricia Thompson.

    The funeral was Tuesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Culvertown with burial in Floydsburg Cemetery “Duncan Memorial” near Crestwood.

    Alice May Lane Costantine passed away March 9, 2012, after a short illness.

    She leaves behind her husband, Romeo; and two sons, Bruce (Jan) Costantine and Jeff (Deb) Costantine.

    The funeral was Tuesday, March 13, 2012, at First Baptist Church in Brandenburg.

    Rose Betlej, 58, of Ekron, passed away Friday, March 9, 2012, at the Hosparus inpatient unit of Norton Medical Pavillion in Louisville.

    Mrs. Betlej is survived by her husband, William Betlej Sr.; a son, Billy Betlej; three grandchildren, David, Delanna and Desiree Betlej; nine brothers, Charles, Richard, Joe Bill, Larry, Sonny, Mike, Jimmy, Frankie and John D. Logsdon; a sister, Anita Troutman; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins.

  • Jesse Milton Emberton

    Jesse Milton Emberton, 93, of Cecilia, died Thurs-day, March 8, 2012, at his residence.

    He was a native of Tompkinsville, a member of Vertrees Baptist Church and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Since 1950 he raised Polled Shorthorn Cattle and was a past member of the Kentucky and American Shorthorn Association.

    He was preceded by his wife of 70 years, Martha Alma Yokley; his parents, Ed and Pearl Turner Emberton; a grandchild, Lisa Bingham; and two great-grandchildren.

  • Frank G. Curran

    Frank G. Curran, 87, of Elizabethtown, died Thurs-day, March 8, 2012, at Kensington Manor.

    A native of Pensacola, Fla., he was a member of  Northside Baptist Church and Morrison Lodge No. 76 F&AM. He was a World War II and Korean War veteran. He served for 26 years in two branches of the military, the U.S. Army and U.S. Navy. He retired in 1986 after 20 years of civil service at Fort Knox.

    Alyssa Marie Faith Barnett, infant daughter of Jeff Barnett and Kyla Baumgardner of Hodgenville, died Tuesday, March 6, 2012, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown.

    A graveside service was held Friday at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Mount Sherman.

  • Michael Perry Welch

    Michael Perry Welch, 68, of Vine Grove, died Tuesday, March 6, 2012, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown.

    He is survived by his wife, Darlene Welch; a son, Steven Paul Welch; and two daughters, Rhonda JoAnn Hoiland and Janet Sue Schmidt.

    The funeral was Monday, March 12, at Nelson-Edelen-Bennett Funeral Home in Vine Grove. Burial, with military honors, was in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery-Central in Radcliff.

    Floyd Wayne Blair, 60, of Cecilia, died Tuesday, March 6, 2012, at Hardin Memorial Hospital.

    He was a native of Vine Grove and a member of Longview United Methodist Church. He was the operation manager at A. Arnold Moving and Storage.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd Henry and Hazel Smith Blair.

    James Kennedy, 44, of Elizabethtown, passed away Sunday, March 4, 2012.

    He was a member of St. James Catholic Church.

    Survivors include his wife, Maila Kennedy; two children, Jasmin and Jadelyn Kennedy; his father and stepmother, James and Connie Kennedy; his mother and stepfather, Patricia and Harry Rurup; his grandmother, Eleanor Blake; one sister, Cheryl Pedersen; three stepsisters, Susan, Marsi and Teri; and three nieces, Amber, Allison and Brittany.

    A Mass of Christian burial was conducted Saturday at St. James Catholic Church in Elizabethtown.

  • Floyd Dean Dothager

    Floyd Dean Dothager, 76, of Vine Grove, passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2012, at his residence, surrounded by family after a courageous battle with cancer.

    Mr. Dothager was a veteran of the U.S. Army and retired from civil service. He was a Kentucky Colonel and a member of the Masonic Lodge.

    He was preceded in death by a sister, Judy Siebert.

    She was a native of Red Boiling Springs, Tenn.

    She was preceded in death by her husband, Finis Owens; a son, Jerry Owens; and her parents, Oscar and Maggie Hudson.
