  • Terrill Edward ‘Turley’ Brooks

    Terrill Edward “Turley” Brooks, 74, of Radcliff, died Tuesday, March 6, 2012, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown.

    Retired Sgt. 1st Class Brooks was a Vietnam veteran. He was a lifetime member of the DAV and AUSA.

    He was preceded in death by his wife, Waltraud Brooks.

  • Ronald A. Skaggs

    Ronald A. Skaggs, 54, died early Monday, Feb. 27, 2012, in a trailer house fire near Brush, Colo.

    He was born Sept. 4, 1957, at Westover Air Force Base in Chesapeake Falls, Mass., to Otis and Jean (Lenning) Skaggs.

  • Harold Downs

    Harold Downs, 80, of Big Clifty, died Monday, March 5, 2012, at his residence.

    He was born June 4, 1931. He was a retired livestock dealer and U.S. Army veteran having served in the Korean War.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilson and Elsie Fulkerson Downs.

    Survivors include his wife, Caroline Downs of Big Clifty; a daughter, Susan (Lonnie) Coe of Big Clifty; a grandson, Bobby Coe of Big Clifty; and a brother, Ray Downs of Big Clifty.

  • Brandon Allen Cranmer

    Brandon Allen Cranmer, 22, of Radcliff, passed away Sunday, March 4, 2012, at University Hospital in Louisville.

    Mr. Cranmer was a 2007 graduate of North Hardin High School.

    He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Ailene Cranmer; and a maternal great-grandmother, Hildegard “Oma” Gehlen.

  • Bessie Jane Bell

    Bessie Jane Bell, 94, of Elizabethtown, died Sunday, March 4, 2012, at Sunrise Manor Nursing Home in Hodgenville.

    She was a native of Breckinridge County and a member of Roundtop Baptist Church. She formerly worked at a sewing factory in Hardinsburg.

    She was preceded in death by two husbands, Alfred Stinnett and Ernest Bell; her parents, Owen and Divia LeMaster Wheeler; and a brother, John Wheeler.

    Larry Junior Wilson, 35, of Vine Grove, passed away Sunday, March 4, 2012, at his residence.

    Mr. Wilson worked for B&R Drywall and was an employee of Don’s Lumber.

  • Richard Lee ‘Dick’ Stone

    Richard Lee “Dick” Stone, 69, of Bardstown, passed away Friday, March 2, 2012, at Baptist Hospital East in Louisville.

    His was a member of New Salem Baptist Church in Cox’s Creek, a member of Duvall Lodge No. 6 F&AM in Bardstown; Boy Scouts of America Scoutmaster for Troop 258 in Bardstown, a member of Rover Scouts of the World and a member of the Fraternal Order of Police. He was a retired captain of the Bardstown Police Department, a former member of the Bardstown Fire Department and a founding member of the Kudu Martial Arts Association.

  • Marjorie L. Fields

    Marjorie L. Fields, 66, of Radcliff, died Wednesday, Feb. 29, 2012, at Hardin Memorial Hospital.

    She was a member of the LaRue chapter O.E.S.

    She is survived by her husband, Lonnie Fields of Radcliff; a daughter, Carla Christian of Louisville; a brother, Cass Filaiol of Tulsa, Okla.; her mother-in-law, Ruby Lee Thomas of Bay City, Texas; and five sisters-in-law, Evelyn Fields, Thelma Banks (Claude), Ruby Nell Davis (Ed), Letha Jean Mitchell (Clifford ) and Patricia Ann Martin (Gill).

  • Henry L. McDonald

    Henry L. McDonald, 85, went on to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 1, 2012, in The Villages, Fla.

    He retired as a sergeant from the U.S. Army after serving in World War II, Korea and Vietnam. He then worked for the Leesburg Police Department, owned a flower shop, worked with puppets to brighten children’s lives and retired as a minister. He and his wife moved to central Florida in 1948 and were members of the Lake Hermosa Church of God in Lady Lake.

  • Luz Amelia Lozano

    Luz Amelia Lozano, 83, of Rineyville, passed away Friday, March 2, 2012, at her residence.

    Survivors include her husband, Luis Lozano Sr.; four children, Yolanda Lozano, Luis Lozano, Daniel Lozano and Carlos Lozano; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

    A private memorial service took place Saturday at the chapel of Coffey & Chism Funeral Home in Vine Grove with Deacon Mickey Vessels officiating.

  • Betty Jane Logsdon

    Betty Jane Logsdon, 75, of Clarkson, died Friday, March, 2, 2012, in Clarksville, Ind.

    She was born July 13, 1936, and was a homemaker, member of Broadford Missionary Baptist Church and retired cook at Mammoth Cave Hotel.

    She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Dorothy Wallace Grubbs, and a daughter, Cathy Logsdon.

  • Frances Fern Gore Laird

    Frances Fern Gore Laird, 89, of Louisville, died Friday, March 2, 2012, at her home.

    She was a native of Hardin County and a member of Christ Gospel Church in Jeffersonville, Ind.

    She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Laird Jr.; and her parents, Harry and Josephine Thurman Gore.

    She is survived by two daughters, Marlene Goodman of Elizabethtown and Pat Duvall of Louisville; a son, Billy Gore of Louisville; a sister, Emogene Cox of Elizabethtown; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

  • Danny Wayne Grimes

    Danny Wayne Grimes, 45, of Elizabethtown, passed away Thursday, March 1, 2012, at Hardin Memorial Hospital.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl Lee and Jeanetta Mae Allen Grimes; a brother, Larry Leon Grimes; and a half-brother, James Robert Grimes.

    Survivors include a sister, Cindy Grimes; a brother, James David Grimes; and a special friend, Debbie Bales.

  • Joe Lee Berrow

    Joe Lee Berrow, 90, of Elizabethtown, passed away Thursday, March 1, 2012 at Woodland Terrace Healthcare Facility.

    He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Bowie Berrow; and his parents, David and Lula Lewis Berrow.

    Survivors include five children, Michael, David, Scott and Tracy Berrow and Margo Parker; a cousin, May Ella Stingelar; 11 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

  • Hazel Aileen Powell

    Hazel Aileen Powell (nee` Smith) went home to the Lord on Thursday, March 1, 2012, at the age of 90.

    Hazel was born in Upland, Pa., on Aug. 8, 1921, and was a long-time resident of Delaware County, Pennsylvania. She graduated from Ridley Township High School, where she was head drum majorette, in 1940. Hazel loved to dance and danced locally for the USO during World War II.

  • Calvin Wayne Marcellis Paul

    Calvin Wayne Marcellis Paul, 40, of LaGrange, formerly of Hart County, died Wednesday, Feb. 29, 2012, at Baptist Northeast in LaGrange.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, Jessie Bradley and Francis Paul.

    The funeral was Saturday, March 3, at Allen Seminary Baptist Church in Hardyville with Bro. Keith Rowletts and Bro. Stanford Dixon officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

    Brooks Funeral Home in Munfordville is in charge of arrangements.

  • Charles John Lindauer

    Charles John Lindauer, 91, of Elizabethtown, formerly of Dale, Ind., died Wednesday, Feb. 29, 2012, at his residence.

    Survivors include one daughter, Suzanne Carney; and one son, Jerry Lindauer.

    The funeral was Monday at Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg, Ind., with burial in St. Paul’s Cemetery in Holland, Ind.

  • Leslie Henry Grimes

    Leslie Henry Grimes, 83, of Cecilia, passed away Thursday, March 1, 2012, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown. 

    He was a carpenter and also worked for Deicks Lumber for years.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, Burr and Luly Grimes; a son, Leslie Edward Grimes; a daughter, Karen Lynn Grimes; five sisters; and two brothers. 

  • Jared David Hollars

    Jared David Hollars, 21, of Elizabethtown, died Wednesday, Feb. 29, 2012, at Kindred Hospital at Jewish Hospital in Louisville.

    He was a native of Edgewood and attended New Hope Community Church. He was a fun-loving person who loved making everyone laugh. He was a graduate of Elizabethtown High School and was an avid University of Kentucky fan. The family asks for everyone to love their children and to have faith, hope and love.

    He was preceded in death by a great aunt, Pauline “Nanny” VonRohr.

  • Joseph Davis Jr.

    Joseph Davis Jr., 70, of Radcliff, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 29, 2012, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown, with his family by his side.

    1st Sgt. Davis was retired from the U.S. Army. He was a member of St. Christopher Catholic Church in Radcliff and a Kentucky Colonel

    He was preceded in death by a daughter, Christine Maria Davis; and a granddaughter, Reece Nicole Davis.
