  • Raymond R. Vandiver

    Raymond R. Vandiver, 88, of Cecilia, died Thursday, April 26, 2012, at Kensington Manor in Elizabethtown.

    He was a native of Grayson County and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He retired from civil service at Fort Knox after 23 years. 

    He was preceded in death by his parents, Bunyon and Gladys Rogers Vandiver; and a sister, Geneva Decker.

    Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Goff Vandiver.

    Services were private. Burial with military honors was in Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens.

    Charles C. Cook, 90, of Brandenburg, died Sunday, April 29, 2012, at his residence.

    Arrangements are incomplete. Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown is in charge of arrangements.

  • Richard D. Alvey

    Richard D. Alvey, 90, of Clarkson, died Saturday, April 28, 2012, at Grayson Manor Nursing Home in Leitchfield.

    He was born Oct. 9, 1921. He was a retired mail carrier, lifelong member and deacon of Clarkson Baptist Church, a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, an avid fisherman and University of Kentucky basketball fan.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, William Conrad and Marguerite VanMeter Alvey.

  • Venita Almeta Aldridge

    Venita Almeta Aldridge, 81, of Vine Grove, passed away Sunday, April 29, 2012, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown.

    Mrs. Aldridge was a member of Valley View Baptist Church in Vine Grove.

    She was preceded in death by her husband, Denver Aldridge; one son, Edward Lee Hagen; and a sister, Margarette Tyler.

    Survivors include one son, David Meade of Brandenburg; two daughters, Janet Allen of Louisville and Betty Manning of Brandenburg; one brother, William Clanton of Salina, Kan.; four grandchildren and several stepgrandchildren.

    James Richard Nichols, 47, of Elizabethtown, died Friday, April 27, 2012, at his residence.

    He was a native of Hardin County, a member of Valley Creek Baptist Church and a truck driver for Nichols Trucking Company.

    He was preceded in death by a nephew, Baby Clifton.

    David Alan Babb, 58, of Elizabethtown, passed away Friday, April 27, 2012, at Jewish Hospital.

    A native of Nelson County, he was a retired social worker from the Kentucky Department of Juvenile Justice.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, Delmar and Laura Jo McGimsey Babb; a sister, Allene Babb Troutman; and his mother-in-law, Lillian Strader.

  • Margaret Sansone

    Margaret Sansone, 88, formerly of Radcliff, passed away Friday, April 27, 2012, at Hospice of Cincinnati.

    She was born in Germany and moved to the United States in the late 1940s, where she worked as a seamstress. She loved to read, work crossword puzzles, cook and spend time with her family. She also was a huge fan of the Cincinnati Reds.

    She was preceded in death by her parents, Konrad and Ida von Vultee; a brother, Hans; her first husband, Willibald Sammer; her second husband of 48 years, Michael Sansone; and her daughter, Linda Shreve.

  • Bonnie Milby Smith Strader

    Mrs. Bonnie Milby Smith Strader was born March 13, 1935, in Green County, to the late Grady Owen Milby and Esther White Milby. She departed this life Friday, April 27, 2012, at Golden Living Center-Green Hill Manor in Greensburg, having attained the age of 77 years, one month and 14 days.

  • Jessica Lynn Fisher

    Jessica Lynn Fisher, 30, of Rineyville, passed away Tuesday, April 17, 2012, at University of Louisville Hospital in Louisville.

    She is survived by her husband, Ben Fisher; a son, Christian Tucker; three daughters, Alexionna Fisher, Layla Stallins and Justice Flores; her father, Everett Tucker Jr.; her mother, Gina White; and four brothers, Billy Jo, DeWayne, Kasey and Benjamin Tucker.

    A graveside service was held Saturday, April 28, at Rineyville Memorial Cemetery in Rineyville. 

  • Phyllis Lynne Packard Day

    Phyllis Lynne Packard Day, formerly of Elizabethtown, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 25, 2012.

    Phyllis was a devoted wife, a loving mother and above all else, was very gifted. She graduated from Texas Christian University in 1978 and retired from Harris Methodist Hospital as a medical technologist in 2000. Her retirement time was filled with love: her beloved family, friends, teaching, reading and quilt making. 

    She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert Eugene Day, in 1983.

  • Retired Sgt. 1st Class Ruben L. Cato

    Retired Sgt. 1st Class Ruben L. Cato, 72, of Radcliff, died Tuesday, April 24, 2012, at his home.

    Survivors include his wife, Hi Ja Cato of Radcliff.

    A committal service with military honors was Monday at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery-Central.

    Nelson-Edelen Bennett Funeral Home in Radcliff is in charge of arrangements.

  • James Delbert Parrett

    James Delbert Parrett, 72, of Elizabethtown, died Wednesday, April 25, 2012, at his residence.

    He was a native of Dayton, Ohio, member of Gilead Baptist Church and retired as district manager for Hardin County Water District No. 2. He was an avid antique car nut and NASCAR Fan and he treasured his entire family.

    He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Alice Burba Parrett; his parents, Oscar and Goldia Edlin Parrett; and a brother, Denver Leo Parrett.

  • Dorothy May Ford

    Dorothy May Ford was born May 26, 1948, in Green County to the late Sam and Nellie Jane Gaddie Ford. She departed this life Friday, April 19, 2012, at her home in Campbellsville, having attained the age of 63 years, 10 months and 23 days.

    Dorothy had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of Mount Union Baptist Church. She was a homemaker. 

    Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Tom, Frank, Richard Lewis, Robert Marshall “Mont” and David Ford.

  • Bobby E. Hart

    Bobby E. Hart, 72, of Elizabethtown, returned to his Heavenly Father on Tuesday, April 24, 2012.

    He was born to the late William Hart and Pearl Williams on Jan. 1, 1940, in Summit. Bobby was united in marriage to Frances “Cissy” Hart on May 3, 1957. Bobby was a born again Christian who loved the Lord and attended Hardin County First Interdenominational Church.

    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Ivena Jaggers; and a son-in-law, Louie Hodge.

  • Rayma Faye Hayes Hubbard

    Rayma Faye Haynes Hubbard, 78, of Guston, passed away Monday, April 23, 2012.

    She was a NARFE secretary and retired from civil service at Fort Knox.

    She was preceded in death by her son, Marshall Kevin Hubbard.

    She is survived by her husband, Edwin Hubbard; four children, Carol (Larry) Powers of Payneville, Mark (Jeanne) Hubbard of Flaherty, Mike Hubbard of Guston and Jon (Missy) Hubbard of Ekron; a daughter-in-law, Gail Hubbard of Flaherty; a brother, William Blanford (Mary) Haynes of Guston; 14 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

    Jane Ann Allgood Leggett, 64, wife of almost 34 years to William “Bill” Leggett, died Monday, April 23, 2012, at the Hospice Care Center.

    Curtis Duane Hegstad, 53, of Elizabethtown, died Thursday, April 19, 2012, at his home.

    He was employed with Fisher Auto Parts in Elizabethtown and was well loved by many people.

    He was preceded in death by his father, Duane R. Hegstad.
