• Monterey Helm Olds

    Monterey Helm Olds, 71, of London, died Friday, April 13, 2012, at Compassionate Care Center of Richmond after a lengthy battle with cancer.

    She was a native of Hart County, a longtime resident of Elizabethtown and a member of Lyons Missionary Baptist Church in Louisville. 

    She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Dean Olds; her parents, Elbert and Ethyl Elkins Helm; and a brother, Robert D. Helm.

  • Kathryn Laureen ‘Laurie’ Johnson Boone

    Kathryn Laureen “Laurie” Johnson Boone, 63, of Bardstown, passed away Saturday, April 14, 2012, at her residence after a courageous battle with cancer.

    She is survived by her loving husband, James Edward “Eddie” Boone; and five girls, Karen (Dewayne) Boblett, Becky (T.J.) Tatum, Cathy Boone, Kelly (Jeff) Gillum and Katie Bertuzzi.

    A memorial service was Monday, April 16, at Joseph L. Greenwell Funeral Home in New Haven with the Rev. Troy Overton officiating. Cremation was chosen.

    Lillie Belle Middleton, 85, of Sonora, passed away Friday, April 13, 2012, at Kensington Manor in Elizabethtown.

    She was a native of Hardin County and a homemaker.

    Belle was preceded in death by her parents, John and Pearle (Barton) Grissom; one brother, Shorty Grissom; one sister, Annie Hornback; and a grandson, James Middleton.

    She was a member of First Baptist Church in Sonora.

  • Anna Lee McKinney Nunn

    Anna Lee McKinney Nunn, 52, of Clarkson, died Friday, April 13, 2012 at Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center in Leitchfield.

    She was a homemaker and a member of Horse Branch Church of God.

    She is survived her husband, Jimmy Nunn; one daughter, Sharon LeAnna McKinney of Clarkson; one son, Charles Eugene McKinney of Beaver Dam; one stepson, Jonathon Lee Nunn of Leitchfield; her father, Eugene Lunsford Jr. of Beaver Dam; two brothers, two sisters and nine grandchildren.

  • Mary Jean Hash

    Mary Jean Hash, 66, of Elizabethtown, passed away Thursday, April 12, 2012, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown.

    Survivors include four children, Anthony John Hash of North Carolina, Earl Hash of Radcliff, Joseph Matthew Hash of Elizabethtown and Saunda Marie Mest of Elizabethtown; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and her fiance, John Marcum of Elizabethtown.

    Cremation was chosen by the family.

  • Roger L. Truitt

    Roger L. Truitt, 72, of Hodgenville, passed away suddenly Friday, April 13, 2012, at Avon Medical Center in Avon, N.C.

    A Marine Corps veteran, Roger was a member of Hodgenville United Methodist Church, retired superintendent for LaRue County Schools, former Hodgenville city councilman, former mayor of Hodgenville and an avid outdoorsman.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, George Benjamin and Doris Irene Dutton Truitt.

  • ‘C’ Craven Durham

    “C” Craven Durham, 56, of Bardstown, died Thursday, April 12, 2012.

    He was born Sept. 27, 1955, at Norfolk Naval Base in Norfolk, Va. He was retired from AT&T after 30 years of service. He was a volunteer at Lebanon Junction Elementary School and Saint Benedict Catholic Church Bible School. He was a member of St. Gregory Catholic Church in Samuels.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, John “H” and Doris Pinnix Durham.

    Mary Elizabeth Ball, 81, of Rineyville, died Tuesday, April 10, 2012, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown.

    She was a mother, sister, grandmother, housewife and friend to everyone. She was a very special person who will be missed dearly by her family and friends.

    She was preceded in death by her husband, Deward Huston Ball; her parents, Theodore R. Harmon and Catherine R. (Carder) Harmon; and two sons, Richard Wayne Ball and Willis Ray Ball.

    She was a native of Worms Germany. She was a loving wife and mother who dedicated her life to taking care of her family.

    She was preceded in death by parents, Johann and Jacobena Satler Dietl.

    William Lester Lax, 61, of Shepherdsville died Wednesday, April 11, 2012.

    Survivors include his mother, Maude; four daughters, Leslie, Christy, Kemberly and Melanie; one stepdaughter, Angie; three sons, Willie, Scott and Timmy; and two stepsons, Jack and Jeff.

    The funeral was Saturday at Fern Creek Funeral Home in Louisville with burial in Penn Runn Cemetery.

    James E. Carnes, 95, of Paoli, Ind., died Wednesday, April 11, 2012, at Paoli Health and Living Community.

    He was born Nov. 13, 1916. He was a retired security guard of Carpenter Body Works, formerly in Mitchell; and was a member of Marion Township Fire Department.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Annie Huffman Carnes; his first wife, Sara Jane Shanks Carnes; his second wife, Eva Cox Carnes; a grandson, James Carnes; two brothers, Travis and Jesse Carnes; and four sisters, Mary Rachel, Maglan and Marie.

    Anderson E. Caswell, 91, of Hodgenville, died Tuesday, April 10, 2012, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown.

    Survivors include four daughters, Eugenia Lee Lamastus, Karen Sue King, Carolyn Ann McCubbin and Allison Brooks; and three sons, Miles Clint Caswell, Thomas Adrian Caswell and Chris Caswell.

    The graveside service was Friday at Campground United Methodist Church Cemetery in Bonnieville.

    Patricia Stevens Trent, 82, of Louisville, passed away Monday, April 9, 2012, at Summerfield Manor.

    She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, William Joseph Trent III; and her sister, Mary Elizabeth “Libby” Stevens.

    Melvin Pennington, 82, of Munfordville, died Tuesday, April 10, 2012, at Hart County Health Care Center in Horse Cave. 

    Survivors include three daughters, Rhonda Beeler, Pamela Wurst and Lucy Morales.

    There will be a private memorial service.

    Christopher Jerome Swenson, 45, of Elizabethtown, died Sunday, April 8, 2012, at his home.

    A native of Louisville, he served in the U.S. Air Force and was a licensed nursing home administrator in Kentucky and Ohio. He also had his RN license in Kentucky. He was the administrator at Crestview Rehabilitation Center in Shelbyville.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Phyllis Habka Swenson.

  • Thomas Franklin Hayse Jr.

    Thomas Franklin Hayse Jr., 61, husband of Debora Cunningham Hayse, died Sunday, April 8, 2012, at the University of Kentucky Markey Cancer Center.

    He was born July 8, 1950, the son of the late Thomas Franklin Hayse Sr. and Edith Johnson Hayse. Mr. Hayse was a graduate of the University of Kentucky and was a retired parts manager for several local automobile dealerships. He was a member of Glens Creek Baptist Church.

    Evelyn Bell Darnall, 88, of Brandenburg, died Sunday, April 8, 2012.

    Survivors include seven children, Larry Darnall, Faye Miller, Louis Darnall, Donna Rosson, Danny Darnall, Debbie Gossett and Barbara Lowther.

    The funeral was Wednesday at Salem Baptist Church with burial in Cap Anderson Cemetery.

    She was born Jan. 21, 1922. She was a housewife and of the Presbyterian faith.

    She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Fouch; her parents, Sie Wesley and Ettie Lillian Drane Dennis; four brothers; and four sisters.
