    Kenneth Wayne Durnil, 82, of Elizabethtown, passed away Wednesday, March 9, 2011, at Woodland Terrace Nursing Facility in Elizabethtown.

    Durnil was a veteran of the United States Air Force and a member of American Legion Post No. 113 in Elizabethtown.

  • Margaret 'Marge' Elizabeth Sims

    Margaret “Marge” Elizabeth Sims, 95, of McKinney, Texas, passed away Monday, March 7, 2011.

    She was born Nov. 13, 1915, in Peoria, Ill., to Conrad Cecil and Cora Howard Cecil. Marge graduated from St. Catherine’s College in Springfield and taught school in Kentucky and El Paso.

  • Joan Margaret Scanlon Van Horne

    Joan Margaret Scanlon Van Horne, 91, died Thursday, March 10, 2011, at the home of her son, John, in Cecilia.

    She was born to Beatrice and Clarence Scanlon in Sydney, Australia, on June 30, 1919.  She came to America after marrying her sailor husband, John R. Van Horne of Elizabethtown and soon became an American citizen. She was a member of St. James Catholic Church, was active until recently with American Legion Post No. 113 and retired from Fort Knox.

  • Ruth Ann McMaster

    Ruth Ann McMaster, 70, of Elizabethtown, died Wednesday, March 9, 2011, at Hardin Memorial Hospital.

    Born in Grayson County, she was a member of American Legion Auxiliary Post No. 113. 

    She was preceded in death by her first husband, Paul D. “Sarge” Gingerich; and her second husband, Kenneth C. McMaster; her parents, James Eldon Hayes and Alta Mae Watson Hayes; six brothers, Jesse Hayes, Bob Hayes, Bill Hayes, Skeeter Hayes, Charles Hayes and Johnny Hayes; and one sister Mary Turner. 

  • Dortha C. Huffman

    Dortha C. Huffman, 85, of Clarkson, passed away Wednesday, March 9, 2011, at Mercy Providence Retirement Home in New Albany, Ind.

    She was retired from Famco Inc., a division of American Air Filter, and a member of Anneta Baptist Church.

    She was born Feb. 21, 1926, in Anneta to the Rev. Adam Decker and Ida Mae Kidwell Decker.

  • John Graser

    John Graser, 74, of Munford, Tenn., died Saturday, March 5, 2011, at Methodist North Hospital.

    He entered the U.S. military in 1954 and served his country with honor for 24 years. He retired as sergeant first class with a multitude of medals and awards during his career. He spent his life helping others.

  • Geneva Lynn Harmanson

    Geneva Lynn Harmanson, 51, of Radcliff, died Monday, March 7, 2011, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown.

    She served in the military for 14 years.

    She was preceded in death by her husband, Satchell P. Harmanson.

  • Jan Rau Christensen

    Jan Rau Christensen, 67, of Vine Grove, died Saturday, March 5, 2011, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown.

    Honorable Staff Sergeant, U.S. Army retired, Jan R. Christensen faithfully served his country. He was a veteran of Vietnam and a defender of Israel. His memberships include Faith Lutheran Church in Radcliff.

    He was preceded in death by his wife, Marcella Lavina Christensen; and a stepdaughter, Christina Diane Watson.

  • Eldon Ray Golden

    Eldon Ray Golden, 72, of Elizabethtown, died Monday, March 7, 2011, at Jewish Hospital.

    He was born in Dawson, Pa., and was a member of College Heights United Methodist Church. He worked at Olin Chemicals for 19 years, was a member of Teamsters Union 407 and retired from Consolidated Freightways. He loved his mission work as it was near and dear to his heart. He was an airman in the U.S. Air Force from 1955 to 1963.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, LeRoy and Ada Gunn Golden; one brother, Charles Golden; and one sister, Ramona Anderson.

    Geneva Lynn Harmanson, 51, of Radcliff, died Monday, March 7, 2011, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown.

  • James Allen Sallee

    James Allen Sallee, 62, of Hodgenville, passed away Tuesday, March 8, 2011, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown.

    He was of the Baptist faith. He was employed by the Hodgenville Housing Authority. He was born Nov. 9, 1948, in Hodgenville, the son of the late Virgil and Geneva Wells Sallee.

    He was also preceded in death by a sister, Betty Jean Sallee.

  • Cheryl Ann Applegate Dyer

    Cheryl Ann Applegate Dyer, 54, passed away Thursday, Feb. 24, 2011, in Phoenix.

    She is survived by her husband, Jay Dyer, two sons, Jeffrey Cooper and J. Brenton Dyer, and beloved dog, Hamie, all of Phoenix; a stepdaughter and son-in-law, Erin and Talith Witharane, and two grandchildren, Evyn and Harrison Witharane, all of Virginia; her mother, Annabelle Worcester, a sister, Debi Reichert, and two brothers, Sonny and Clay Applegate, all of Radcliff; a sister and brother-in-law, Bonnie and Charlie Fletcher of Phoenix; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

  • Karen Greer

    Karen Greer, 61, of Lodiburg, died Sunday, March 6, 2011, at Hardin Memorial Hospital.

    She is survived by her husband, Philip Greer of Lodiburg; two children, James Murphy of Elizabethtown and Kristina English of Charlestown, Ind.; her parents, Morris and Mary Helen Lytle of Taswell, Ind.; three grandsons; one sister, Vicki Newton of West Fork, Ind.; and three brothers, Gary Lytle of Oklahoma City, Okla., Alan Lytle of Campbellsburg, Ind., and Kevin Lytle of Milltown, Ind.

  • Donald Ray Mott

    Donald Ray Mott, 58, of Radcliff, passed away Sunday, March 6, 2011, at Kindred Hospital in Louisville.

    Mr. Mott was a veteran of the United States Army.

    He was preceded in death by his mother, Pearle Mott.

    Survivors include his loving wife, Debra Mott of Radcliff; one son, Donald Mott of Radcliff; his father, Donald Eugene Mott; three sisters, Leslie Gayle Mott, Cathy Mott and Marie Mott; and three brothers, David Randall Mott, Steve Mott and Tony Mott.

  • Gordon Russell Blair

    Gordon Russell Blair, 65, of Cecilia, died Monday, March 7, 2011, at his residence.

    He was born in Richmond, Va., and was a charter member of Westside Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam and was a member of the America Legion Post 0094 in Valparaiso, Ind., and Blair Society for Genealogical Research. He also loved to fish and hunt, and he enjoyed the outdoors. 

    He is preceded in death by his parents, Russell Marion Blair and Hazel Mae Osborne Blair; and three children.

  • James H. Miller

    James H. Miller, 77, died Thursday, March 3, 2011.

    Jim served in the United States Navy and was a Mason. Jim worked as an electrician and was a member of IBEW Local 640.

    He was the beloved husband of Marion Muscoplat Miller; loving father of Karen Guetel and Jim (Jolene Struebbe) Miller; and devoted grandfather of Ben, Sarah and Lauren Miller.

    Interment will be in Spring Grove Cemetery.

  • Earl Daniel Moore Sr.

    Earl Daniel Moore Sr., 65, of Elizabethtown, died Monday, March 7, 2011, at his home with family.

    Earl has been a loving husband, father and grandfather who had a great love of “the Land” and riding his bicycle on the trails at Freeman Lake Park. A native of Clarkson, Earl attended Oklahoma City University on a basketball scholarship and retired from management at Dow Corning Corp.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Frankie Moore. 

  • Chad Alan Roberts

    Chad Alan Roberts, 36, a native of Radcliff, died Sunday, March 6, 2011, of a heart attack at his home in Stephensport.

    Chad will be greatly missed, will always be loved and never forgotten.

    He is survived by his wife, Kim Roberts; his parents, James and Melinda Roberts; his sister, Jennifer Roberts; four nieces, Tiffani Roberts, Micheala Dawson, Cassidy McDaniel and Mackenzie Lewis; three nephews, Lucas and Zachary McDaniel and Connor Lewis; two aunts, Virginia Kessel and Rose Davis; and two uncles, Blake Kessel and Ron Davis.

  • Altha Wager

    Altha Wager, 79, of Radcliff, died Sunday, March 6, 2011, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown.

    Mrs. Wager was a member of MOAA, Pleasant Hill Methodist Church in Sevierville, Tenn., and was very active in her Bridge Club.

    She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Ray Wager Sr.; and her daughter, Kathryn L. Wager.
