  • Doris Dickerson Sims

    Doris Dickerson Sims, 83, of Elizabethtown, formerly of Liberty, Ind., died Friday, Dec. 31, 2010, at Kensington Manor Care Center.

    Doris was a Liberty, Ind., native, born Dec. 15, 1927, to Nathan and Lucy Byrley Crane and graduated from Short High School in Liberty, Ind. She had been employed in Danville as a secretary at the Centenary United Methodist Church and had worked as a legal secretary for several years in the judge’s office.  She was a member of First Christian Church in Harrodsburg.

  • Dorothy Mae 'Dottie' Vertrees

    Dorothy Mae “Dottie” Vertrees, 84, of Elizabethtown, died Friday, Dec. 31, 2010, at Hardin Memorial Hospital.

    She was a native of Hardin County and a member of Severns Valley Baptist Church. She was a member of Hardin Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, the American Legion Post No. 113 Auxiliary and she loved to bowl.  She retired in 1975 from the accounting department at Fort Knox Army Air Force Exchange Service.

    Louis “Junior” Basham, 80, of Vine Grove, died Sunday, Dec. 26, 2010, at his home.

    He was the founder of Basham’s Lumber Co., a carpenter, businessman, farmer and owner of the Blue Grass Barn Dance. His memberships include Red Hill Baptist Church and the honorable Kentucky Colonels. “Junior” was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

    James Edward Bryant, 85, of Lebanon Junction, died Thursday, Dec. 23, 2010, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown.

    He was a native of Bardstown; a U.S. Navy veteran and underwater demolition team No. 26 of World War II. He was a retired mechanic for Louisville Lift Truck Company. He was a member of the VFW Post in Lebanon Junction and a member of St. James Catholic Church in Elizabethtown.

    He was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel Jackson Bryant; and a son, Wayne Hughes.
