Windstream is hosting a series of educational initiatives about internet safety including two sessions in Elizabethtown.
“While the Internet is a great resource, it’s also a space we want to keep safe and secure,” said Phillip McAbee, Windstream president of Kentucky operations. “We use door locks, alarm systems and situational awareness to keep us safe at home and we need the same sort of protection online.”
A retail store event June 27 in Elizabethtown is open to the public. It’s scheduled from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Windstream’s office at 111 S. Main St., Elizabethtown.
The company also has a presentation scheduled for noon June 25 at the Elizabethtown Rotary Club meeting in Room 303 of the Occupational Technical Building at Elizabethtown Community and Technical College.
Windstream, which offers network communications and technology solutions, is conducting sessions in Kentucky in recognition of June as Internet Safety Month.
During its #StayPRIVATE initiative, Windstream is encouraging consumers, business owners and IT professionals to remember the acronym PRIVATE to remember seven internet safety priorities: Protect personal and private information, resist pop-ups and suspicious downloads, install the latest software updates, verify emails, assess your privacy settings, talk to others about safe internet practices and ensure your internet connections are secure.
