    Paul Crutcher is hosting an evening pasture improvement tour at his farm beginning at 6 p.m. Dr. J.D. Green, UK Extension weed specialist, will identify various pasture weeds and discuss the best method to control them. This will be a hands-on exercise, so plan to do some walking.

  • Flex Films to stabilize production before start of second phase

    Flex Films USA aims to stabilize production lines and seek full capacity before undergoing phase two of construction at the T.J. Patterson Industrial Park on North Black Branch Road in Elizabethtown, according to a company official.

    The flexible films manufacturer now employs nearly 100 and still has open positions, Human Resources Manager Devon Logsdon said.

    Logsdon said the company is reviewing applications and resumes for potential hires. Last year, Logsdon said the first phase of hiring should round out around 125.

    A policy change for an Oregon-based company is expected to result in the loss of about 60 local jobs.

    The Greenbrier Companies Inc., a provider of equipment and services to the railway industry, announced Thursday that the company has reached an agreement to sell all of the equipment used at its reconditioned wheelset rollerbearing operations facility on Peterson Drive in Elizabethtown.
