  • Shoney’s celebrates 25th anniversary

    Shoney’s of Elizabethtown celebrated their 25th anniversary in the Hardin County area with a ribbon cutting on Sept. 30. They are located at 1046 Executive Drive, Elizabethtown. In attendance were Amanda Portman, Shoney’s; Chamber board member Mark Haynes of Gold Star Realty/Hodges Auction; Shoney’s staff, friends and Chamber ambassadors.

  • $5 million airport project begins

    A $5 million renovation project for Elizabethtown Regional Airport at Addington Field is one step closer to landing a commuter airline service.

    Overlay work on the runway temporarily will close the airport beginning today. Airport Manager Roger Lawson said the airport will be closed to flights for no more than 30 days, should everything run on schedule with weather conditions.

    The overlay work will range from about 5 1/2’’ deep to 10-14’’ deep in some places on the 6,000-foot runway, Lawson said.

  • Burke's Outlet Store coming to Towne Mall in November

    Just in time for the holiday shopping season, consumers will find a new anchor store at Towne Mall.

    Brandenton, Fla.-based Burke’s Outlet is expected to open by Thanksgiving at the site of the former Dawahares at the front of the mall.

    “We are happy to have all our anchor stores occupied,’’ said Theresa Steinemann, business development and marketing manager at Towne Mall. “This is great for our guests, the mall as well as our community, through additional jobs that will become available with their store opening.’’

  • Fort Knox Federal organizes KOSS drive

    Students at the Larue County Middle School collected more than 700 pairs of flip-flop sandals to donate to U.S. troops in Afghanistan. The flip-flop drive is part of the Keep Our Soldiers Safe (KOSS) program organized by Fort Knox Federal Credit Union. The KOSS program supports the troops with useful items from home.

  • FullCircle Registry eyes Movie Palace acquisition

    Elizabethtown’s Movie Palace soon could be under a new ownership umbrella.

    Shelbyville-based FullCircle Registry Inc., through its subsidiary FullCircle Entertainment Inc., has signed a nonbinding letter of intent to acquire the 12-screen movie theater, which is off Dixie Avenue and has frontage on Woodland Drive.
