  • Cheddar's gears up for opening

    Cheddar’s Casual Café soon will be ready for business on Elizabethtown’s north end.

    The restaurant, developed by Lexington-based Greer Cos., is expected to open its doors Sept. 26, said Lee Greer, president.

    Prior to the official launch, Greer said, there will be invitation-only training sessions, which will gauge food and service quality. Greer said the restaurant is an affordable choice with freshly prepared food options ranging from salads and burgers to steak and ribs.

    Towne Mall presents a grant for $500 to Sarah Vaughn of Advocacy & Support Center, from the Louise Marquez Volunteer Grant Program. This grant was given to help offset the cost of purchasing banners and signage for the Via Colori Street Painting Festival, a signature event, which raises funds for the Advocacy & Support Center held Sept. 10.

  • Books for Babies gets donation

    The Cecilian Bank is aware of the importance early childhood education plays in the development of children and to support those efforts the bank recently contributed $1,500 toward the Books for Babies program. This program provides each newborn baby at Hardin Memorial Hospital with a very first book for the parents to read to their child.

    The Hardin County Chamber of Commerce sponsored a ribbon cutting/grand opening for a new Chamber Member Jewelry and Bridal on Aug. 26. The store is at 1701 N. Dixie Ave., Elizabethtown, in the Starlite Shopping Center.   • Parade of Homes set for two weekends this month

    The Lincoln Trail Home Builders Association held a kickoff banquet Wednesday to honor builders, lenders, sponsors and other participants in its annual Parade of Homes.

    New houses will be on display around the community Sept. 10-11 and again Sept. 17-18.

    The admission fee for the entire tour is $5 per person.
