  • Vine Grove lumber store closing Dec. 30

    A Vine Grove store is closing because of the economy.

    Don’s Lumber & Hardware Inc. is scheduled to close Dec. 30 and consolidate with the Elizabethtown location on Leitchfield Road.

    That location will remain where it is. Vice president Troy Basham doesn’t know whether changes will be made there as part of the consolidation.

    “The main thing is, we still plan on taking care of and servicing all our customers,” he said.

    Question: I don’t want to damper my (or my family’s) holiday season, but I am already starting to worry about the financial blues that inevitably come on Dec. 26. Any suggestions to combat the post holiday financial flu?

    A free military contracting forum to explain the process for obtaining contracts at Fort Knox is planned for Monday at Pritchard Community Center in Elizabethtown. 

  • Avey takes job with Regional Leadership Council

    The Regional Leadership Coalition named Beth Avey, owner and president of Elizabethtown-based Heartland Communications Consultants, as its new executive director.
    A Hardin County resident and former U.S. Army officer, Avey also works on the One Knox and Wired65 regional initiatives. Avey will continue in her role with HCC.
