  • Fourth IHOP in state could be in E’town

    Calling Elizabethtown and Kentucky an area of “great appeal,’’ vice president of operations for IHOP said the restaurant’s fourth franchise in the state could be in Elizabethtown.

    Creg Hagerman said Friday morning the company is “very, very close’’ on a deal to bring the signature pancake restaurant to Elizabethtown. IHOP, which has stores in Louisville, Lexington and Bowling Green, is in negotiations to move into the former Frisch’s location on North Dixie Avenue next to Cheddar’s.

  • Five members named to local Workforce Investment Board

    The Lincoln Trail Area Development District recently appointed five members to its Workforce Investment Board.

    Selected were Anthony Conder, assistant vice president and banking Center manager at The Cecilian Bank; Chris Ormes, pressman at American Fuji Seal, United Steel Workers; Kenneth Ritchie, assistant business manager and apprentice coordinator at International Brotherhood of Boilermakers; Tim Walker, mayor of Elizabethtown; and John Tindall Jr., a self-employed and retired military veteran.

  • E'town to get a new King

    Along with flame-broiled hamburgers and onion rings, the newest Burger King in Hardin County is bringing 50 new jobs.

    Construction started last week at the new fast-food restaurant on U.S. 62 by Central Hardin High School next to McDonald’s. The location is slated to open sometime in the fall. This is the second Elizabethtown location with the other on North Mulberry Street. There also is a Burger King in Radcliff and on Fort Knox in Hardin County.

  • Beshear announces AT&T adding 20 jobs at Grayson call center

    Gov. Steve Beshear announced Wednesday that AT&T is adding 20 full-time customer service representatives to its East Park call center in the Carter County community of Grayson.

    According to a news release, AT&T also is hiring an additional 38 full- and part-time positions at retail stores in six Kentucky communities, including Bowling Green, Owensboro, Lexington, Louisville, Corbin and Winchester.

  • Massive phone survey reaching out to employers

    The Lincoln Trail Area Development District, along with several employment organizations, is about to embark on what it calls the largest employer outreach and workforce survey ever undertaken in the region.

    Businesses throughout the region with five or more employees soon will be asked to participate in a labor market survey. The call should last from seven to 10 minutes, according to a news release.
