An Elizabethtown man was arrested Sunday afternoon and charged with felony assault following a fight with his boyfriend.
A man told police he and his boyfriend, Darnell Thompson, 53, were in an argument that escalated into a fight, Thompson’s arrest citation said. The victim said Thompson punched him in the head and afterward Thompson wrapped both of his hands around the man’s neck. The man said he was unable to breathe and felt as though he was going to lose consciousness, according to the arrest citation.
The man had multiple bruises and scratches on his arms and head and a large lump on his head, the report stated. The marks around the victim’s neck were consistent with strangulation, the arrest citation read.
Thompson was charged with second-degree assault-domestic violence, a Class C felony punishable by five to 10 years in prison, if convicted.
Thompson is being held in lieu of a $25,000 cash bond in the Hardin County Detention Center. He is scheduled to appear at July 19 in Hardin District Court.
