An Elizabethtown man charged and arrested in August with firing a gun at his wife while she was in a vehicle has been indicted on a charge of attempted murder by a Hardin County grand jury.

Ricky Baker, 56, also was indicted on a charge of possession of a handgun by a convicted felon. He has been lodged in the Hardin County Detention Center since his Aug. 24 arrest in lieu of a $50,000 cash bond.

According to an citation, Baker is alleged to have shot at the woman and her vehicle multiple times around 9 p.m. Aug. 23.

The citation said the shooting occurred during an argument between the couple and Baker allegedly pulled out what the victim believed to be a handgun and threatened her life while firing the weapon. She was in the driver’s seat of her vehicle while the shots were being fired.

A bullet was found in the driver’s side door during an investigation by the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office.

Attempted murder is a Class B felony punishable by 10 to 20 years in prison, if convicted, and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon is a Class C felony, punishable by five to 10 years in prison, if convicted.

He is scheduled to appear Tuesday in Hardin Circuit Court.
