An Eastview man was arrested early Friday morning and charged with first-degree criminal mischief and impersonating a peace officer.

Elizabethtown police were called at 3:21 a.m. Friday to a residence on Crimson Creek. A woman reported when she went outside to get some medication from her vehicle and found there was a man inside of it.

According to the arrest citation, when she yelled at David Young, 35, to get out of the car, he told her he was a detective with EPD. The citation said Young told her she needed to get everyone out of her house because there was a bomb in the car.

Police advised her through dispatch to go inside her residence and lock the door.

When police arrived, Young was arrested and told officers he was an arson investigator for Kentucky State Police and on a task force.

The citation said he continued to claim there was a bomb in the vehicle and everyone needed to leave the home.

The vehicle was checked and the center console had been damaged. The citation also said at some point while near the property Young poured a gallon of antifreeze into a water bottle he had in his possession.

Young also was charged with public intoxication of a controlled substance.

First-degree criminal mischief and impersonating a peace officer are Class D felonies punishable by one to five years in prison, if convicted.

Young was being held in the Hardin County Detention Center in lieu of a $2,500 cash bond.

He is set to appear Nov. 15 in Hardin District Court.
