An Elizabethtown man was arrested Wednesday night on North Dixie Avenue after police reportedly found him driving a bicycle on the busy roadway while intoxicated.

Johnny Sanders, 54, was charged with driving under the influence of a non-motor vehicle and possession of marijuana.

Elizabethtown police were contacted after Sanders reportedly was involved in an argument, according to an arrest citation. When police arrived, they found him riding a bike by a Five Star convenience store across from Dix-E-Town Lanes at Pine Valley Drive.

After police made a traffic stop, he gave consent to a search of himself and his bike, according to the arrest report. Police reportedly found a marijuana joint and he then was asked to perform a standard field sobriety test.

He was arrested at 10:48 p.m., booked into the Hardin County Detention Center and released Thursday morning.

No court date has been scheduled, according to jail records.
